OPI – Can’t Let Go

Wednesday, September 18th, 2013

Yep, it’s been quiet around here again, I really have problems with finding time for my blog! But I did have time to find this beautiful gem among my unedited photos, the gorgeous OPI Can’t Let Go from the Mariah Carey collection. I think it has the perfect blue toned purple shade, and I absolutely love the textured finish on the Liquid Sand polishes. It has bigger hexagon shaped glitter in it as well as smaller glitter, and I think it makes it a little more interesting.

I can’t really remember how many coats I did, but I would guess three. When I first photographed it there was no sun so it looks a little dull:

But one day the sun decided to show:

Before I took it off I tried it with top coat on, and it looks fantastic with that as well, it really deepens the purple color.

I really need a bigger bottle of this one!

IsaDora – Turquoise Crush & Purple Crush

Monday, August 26th, 2013

I’ve survived my first week back at work and so far it feels pretty good, I think I’ve been able to really unwind this Summer so I actually felt ready to get back to business for once. Now I just need to get back to blogging more regularly, that’s the one thing I can’t seem to get a grip on…

So, Monday means Blue Monday, which you can find at Nail Me from now on. This is the manicure that I wore at work last week, it’s two beautiful textured polishes from IsaDora: Turquoise Crush which I’ve used as the main color, and Purple Crush for my accent nail. Both of these polishes have beautiful silver glitter in them. Turquoise Crush needed three coats to be fully opaque, and Purple Crush only needed two coats.

The first two photos are taken in the sun. I can’t say that they make the polishes justice, they had a really beautiful sparkle that I couldn’t quite capture:

The next ones are taken in the shade:

I really love these, I might have to get more of the IsaDora Crush polishes =)

Illamasqua – Speckle

Saturday, August 17th, 2013

Illamasqua Speckle is a gorgeous lavender colored polish from the Imperfection collection that came out earlier this year. There are both micro-glitter and bigger hexagon-shaped black glitter in it. I really like these types of polishes that look like speckled bird eggs, even if its glitter in them they’re still quite discrete. The glitter was distributed pretty evenly and I went with three coats as I usually do. I think I only did one thin layer of top coat, it looks like I would have needed some more to get a real smooth surface.

Let’s enjoy this beauty in the sun:

Cirque – Ophelia

Tuesday, June 25th, 2013

Another couple of weeks of silence.. I really can’t keep up can I? Anyway, it’s time to show you Cirque Ophelia. It’s a beautiful  periwinkle blue hex glitter in a clear base. It also has shimmer in it, I’m not quite sure if it’s the shimmer that makes this polish look iridescent, it seems to have a bit of a pink shift to it. What you see on the photos are two coats of Ophelia on top of one coat of the black creme Camelot from A England. The formula was really nice, it was fairly easy to get an even layer of glitter and it wasn’t goopy at all. I didn’t use top coat since it was only a quick swatch, but I imagine one layer of top coat would be enough to make it smooth.

This is what Ophelia looks like in indirect light:

Here it is in the sun:

How about a close-up?

I love the shimmer in it as well, it makes it more interesting than if it had just been the glitter. I’ll definitely be wearing this again, maybe with another base color.

OPI – Get Your Number

Monday, May 13th, 2013

How about a Blue Monday? It’s finally time to show you my first experience with the Liquid Sand finish from OPI. This is the blue Get Your Number from the Mariah Carey collection. When I got the polish I already had the blue holo Over The Moon on my nails, so I was lazy and just applied two coats of the polish on top of that. Looking at the photos I think it would have been better if I’ve used three coats, I’ll make sure to do that when I try the others.

So what do I think of the textured finish? I really like it, I like the matte finish and I don’t mind the texture. I actually couldn’t stop feeling my nails when I wore it =)

The holographic glitter particles are really beautiful in the sun.

Of course I had to try it with top coat on as well, and with that I think it was more obvious that I should have applied an extra coat of GYN, as the base looks a little streaky here and there.

I also took a crappy photo under my desk lamp, but I thought it showed off the glitter quite well:

I’m looking forward to trying more polishes with a textured finish, the Pixie Dust polishes from Zoya look really tempting for example, and I’ve seen that IsaDora will be releasing some as well.

China Glaze – Lorelei’s Tiara

Saturday, February 9th, 2013

How about a New Year’s Eve manicure over a month later? I wore the gorgeous Lorelei’s Tiara which I just got a few months back. It’s from China Glaze’s Eye Candy collection and so far this is the only one I have from that collection. It’s a silver glitter with bigger glitter in a gorgeous blue/turquoise color.

This is two coats on top of Nails Inc Cambridge Terrace, which is a silver shimmer. I then needed two coats of Seche Vite to make it smoother.

I wore this for almost two weeks, it was hard to let it go!

IsaDora – Polar Nights

Sunday, December 30th, 2012

I searched for this polish for weeks before I finally found it in a store, and I wanted to try it out before the end of the year. IsaDora Polar Nights is a gorgeous polish consisting of small silver glitter and hex glitter in a dark blue jelly base. I needed three coats for full opacity, and added a coat of Seche Vite to make it smooth. The formula is really good and glides on without feeling goopy, but I still dislike the big brush.

There wasn’t really much light today so the photos are taken with high ISO. And ignore the dry hands, I didn’t have time to moisturize after removal of my previous manicure.

I really like how some of the glitter is buried in the blue base but still shines through.

If you haven’t got your paws on this one yet I suggest you do, it’s wonderful!

China Glaze – Winter Holly

Tuesday, December 25th, 2012

I forgot my camera at home, but I just wanted to show you my manicure for Christmas. This is one coat of the dark green Hunter Green from IsaDora, and then one coat of China Glaze Winter Holly, which is a beautiful mix of green, gold and prismatic glitter. Please forgive me for this crappy mobile photo:

You have to use your imagination to see how gorgeous this is =)

Merry Christmas, I hope you’re all having a wonderful time with friends and family!

Update December 27th: I was lucky to have some sun today so I took a few photos with a fresh layer of top coat on. My, does this glitter eat top coat or what!

Do you see all the pretty colors twinkling in there? It’s wonderful!

My New Year’s Eve Manicure – OPI Let Me Entertain You

Friday, January 6th, 2012

Can you tell I’m a bit behind on posting? Anyway, my preparations for New Year’s Eve took a little longer than I had planned (as usual) and when the guests came I still hadn’t done my nails, so this manicure was done in a real hurry.

I wanted something pink or purple this year, so I picked out OPI Let Me Entertain You, a gorgeous fuchsia color with small glass flecks, which flash in pink and purple. I did three coats which dried pretty fast even without top coat. To get a bit more bling I added a coat of L. A. Girl Overdose as an accent on the ring fingers (forgot to take a photo of that bottle), it contains glitter in pink/purple, gold and blue. It probably would have looked better with one more coat but it still gave a nice effect I think.

The first photo is taken outside in the shade:

And the last one with flash inside:

I love colors like these, this is a true roxcat manicure!

China Glaze Ruby Pumps

Saturday, December 31st, 2011

A couple of months ago I started thinking about what to wear for Christmas, and I realized I didn’t have many red polishes at all. I quickly got my hands on the classic Ruby Pumps from China Glaze, and I’m really glad to finally have it! Of course the weather didn’t cooperate as usual this time of year, but I did get some sun finally after wearing this for about five days.

So first some photos with sunlight:

I can’t say that the photos do it much justice, it looks more beautiful in real life.

The next two photos are older and without sunlight:

The photo above is taken with flash under the bedroom lamp. And the last one is taken in the shade a cloudy morning:

It was quite hard to capture the beauty of this one, but I’m sure most of you already know what it looks like =)

And now I’m trying to figure out what to do for New Year’s Eve, I’m thinking of doing something pink/purple, maybe with glitter, or maybe holographic. Do you know what your New Year’s Eve manicure will look like?
