A England – Princess Sabra

Friday, June 28th, 2013

Yay it’s time for Skimmerskuggan’s Holo Friday again! Princess Sabra is one of the holographic polishes from A England’s the Legends collection. It has the additional name Tristam Eyes (the creator Adina’s cat), and I can really see this being the color of a cat eye. is color. I would describe the color as a olive toned beige/gold, and it’s a nice discrete color. I applied two coats of Princess Sabra, if I were to wear it longer than a day I would probably have gone for three coats. Unfortunately the brush in this bottle was really wonky so the application wasn’t the best.

Lets take a look at it in the sun:

The holographic effect wasn’t visible at all when I photographed it in the shade:

I took another photo by the computer to try and catch the slight holographic effect indoors. It’s grainy and the color is a bit off, but I think you get the idea of what it looks like:

In normal lighting the holographic effect gives the color some extra depth, and it’s really quite beautiful. It’s a really nice polish, the only bad thing was the brush, but that can happen to the best of brands.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend! I hope I can get to edit some photos for the blog, I have loads of stuff that I still haven’t posted and it just keeps piling up.

Gina Tricot – Viva Glam

Thursday, July 12th, 2012

This is my first polish from Gina Tricot, after seeing this one a few blogs I had to try it out myself. I ended up with four coats as I thought it was sheer when I applied it in dim lights, but after seeing it in daylight I’m sure three would have been enough. Anyway, Viva Glam is a cool golden shade that shifts to a more silvery shade in some angles. It’s quite unique in my stash and I really like it! It’s packed with what I think is called micro-glitter, which was a bit of a pain to remove, but it was worth it =)

In this flash photo you can see that some of the glitter particles have a warmer tone, I thought I saw some copper tones and even some green in there.

China Glaze GR8

Friday, January 27th, 2012

Wohoo it’s Holo Friday again! This time I’m showing you the yellowish golden colored GR8 from the China Glaze OMG collection. I’m not really that into warm golden shades, but if it’s holographic it’s hard to resist!

This is three thin coats that dried super quickly as the others in this collection, and no top coat.

I’m glad the sun wanted to show up for a while so I could take these photos.

The holo effect doesn’t seem that strong as with some of the other polishes, it could be that it blends in more with the base color. It still looks pretty, though.

It’s not a favorite from the collection, but I’m still glad to have it.

Chanel Péridot

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

And here it is, my first Chanel polish ever, the golden/green duochrome Péridot. Kicks has been having a 20% sale on nail polishes so I just couldn’t help but bringing this one home with me.

I applied three thin coats with Seche Vite on top, it was pretty easy to maneuver, though I did get some faint brush strokes. It would probably have gone better if I had seen what I was doing in the poor lighting.

It’s not easy photographing without any natural light, but I’ve tried my best to show the different faces of this polish. The colors go from a reddish gold, paler gold, to green, and last to a blue/teal shade. First some photos without flash, in indoor lighting:

Yes, there’s a kitty hair hiding in the photos, please ignore it if you find it =)

A bit blurry photo, but you can see a bit more of the green shade.

And the next two photos are with flash under my desk lamp:

The next photo is without flash, also under the desk lamp. I think I managed to capture the blue shade pretty well here, it’s only seen in more extreme angles:

And last, a photo I just took in the kitchen:

I hope you can excuse the photo spam of poor quality.

I also wanted to try and film it, I don’t know if it’s of any use or just crappy. The lighting is bad and the autofocus is far from perfect for filming, but at least you can see the color shifting:

Ooops, I forgot to edit out the sound! Well, it’s my first YouTube upload so I’m just a total noob at this thing =)
