OPI – Get Your Number

May 13th, 2013

How about a Blue Monday? It’s finally time to show you my first experience with the Liquid Sand finish from OPI. This is the blue Get Your Number from the Mariah Carey collection. When I got the polish I already had the blue holo Over The Moon on my nails, so I was lazy and just applied two coats of the polish on top of that. Looking at the photos I think it would have been better if I’ve used three coats, I’ll make sure to do that when I try the others.

So what do I think of the textured finish? I really like it, I like the matte finish and I don’t mind the texture. I actually couldn’t stop feeling my nails when I wore it =)

The holographic glitter particles are really beautiful in the sun.

Of course I had to try it with top coat on as well, and with that I think it was more obvious that I should have applied an extra coat of GYN, as the base looks a little streaky here and there.

I also took a crappy photo under my desk lamp, but I thought it showed off the glitter quite well:

I’m looking forward to trying more polishes with a textured finish, the Pixie Dust polishes from Zoya look really tempting for example, and I’ve seen that IsaDora will be releasing some as well.

Nailart Sunday – A distasteful manicure

May 12th, 2013

LeLack has been having a theme this week on her blog called “Gräsliga veckan” – which you could translate to terrible/horrid/ugly week. I managed to dig up this awful thing I did a few months ago. I was doing nail art with the theme food, and thought it would be a good idea to do a hot dog manicure.

I think the photo speaks for itself:

Can it get any uglier? The base is China Glaze Street Chic, and then I’ve made the mustard and ketchup stripes with Miyo Sunny and Eyeko Saucy Polish. Let’s just say that this manicure didn’t stay on for long.. =)

China Glaze – Infra Red

May 10th, 2013

This Holo Friday I have another Hologlam polish to show you, this time with more color than last week. Infra Red is a gorgeous deep magenta color with a beautiful linear holographic effect. I applied two coats of this for full opacity.

This is what it looks like in the sun:

201204_china_glaze_infra_red_2

It still looks wonderful in the shade thanks to the rich base color:

This may very well be my favorite from the collection! That’s probably not a surprise since I absolutely love QT from the OMG collection. They’re definitely not dupes but they are both dark pinks which I have a weakness for.

And with this I wish you all a wonderful weekend! I hope there will be more sun so I can photograph some more nice holos soon =)

My Birthday Manicure

May 5th, 2013

How about some nail art this beautiful Sunday? I rarely have something to contribute to Lela’s NailArt Sundays, but today I had something in my stash. This manicure was something I did for my birthday party back in April. I have now turned 30, does that mean I’m a grown up now? Hell no!  =)

The base is three coats of China Glaze Dance Baby, and then I made irregular spots with the dark pink Traffic Jam using a dotting tool. I then followed up with Black Creme from Wet n Wild along the edges of Traffic Jam. On top of that I applied Poshé topcoat. I’m quite pleased with this manicure, even if it was made in a hurry. On the index finger nail you can see that it got a little stringy, it was probably because the polish had dried a little too much when I applied it with the dotting tool.

The manicure is a little worn here as I took the photos after a couple of days.

I did have some inspiration for this manicure:

What is it? It’s one of the coolest pair of shoes I own, Pink Friday from Iron Fist:

Pink and leopard print, can it get any better? I love these shoes! Though my feet didn’t love them after a few hours…

Hauls & Hair

May 5th, 2013

While I was away from the blog I’ve been ordering some new fun stuff that I thought I would show you.

First of all, the polishes from A England that had to take an extra trip thanks to the stupid regulations of Royal Mail to not ship polishes anymore. I was glad when they finally showed up in my mailbox!

201303_a_england_haul

L-R: Dorian Gray, Tess d´Urbervilles, She Walks In Beauty, Princess Sabra, Holy Grail Limited Edition

To be honest I just bought Holy Grail since it’s now Limited Edition, I’d much rather want the new edition… =)

Next up are some OPI:s that I bought on Ebay. Since I couldn’t decide which Liquid Sand polishes I wanted to try from the Mariah Carey collection, I went for the mini sizes. And I literally squeed when I saw the little bottles, aren’t they cute? I also ordered Live And Let Die from the Skyfall collection, I’ve been drooling over that one for quite a while now.

201304_opi_haul

L-R- Get Your Number, Can’t Let Go, The Impossible, Stay The Night, Live And Let Die.

Next up are some polishes from Illamasqua. They’re not my first from that brand, I actually have Scarab since quite a few years ago but I  haven’t worn it yet (shame on me!).

201305_illamasqua_haul

L-R: Pink Raindrops, Speckle, Nomad, Cameo, Noble.

I wanted to buy the original Raindrops as well but it was out of stock when I ordered. At least I have an excuse to make a new order in the future =)

And last but not least, some indie polishes that I ordered from the new Swedish web shop Edgy Polish. It’s nice to have so many gorgeous indie polishes available to buy here in Sweden!

201305_edgy_polish_haul

L-R: Cirque Hellebore, Cirque Dark Horse, Cirque Ophelia, Smitten Polish Butter Mint

I’m not that familiar with all the indie brands out there, so I actually chose these a bit at random. I’m really looking forward to trying these.

And on to something totally unrelated: A couple of months ago I did a big change with my hair. After having long hair for about eight years I was so sick and tired of it, so I went to the hairdresser to get it all chopped off into a pixie. And I love it! There’s almost no hair to wash, it dries super quickly, and I can do different hair styles every day that doesn’t take forever to do. With long hair the big question was: ponytail or no ponytail? That was everything I could do with my skills, curling my hair was something I only had time to do once a year or so.

My fiance is still struggling with the change, poor guy.. But I know he loves me no matter what <3

If you want to now what lippie I’m wearing on the second pic it’s IsaDora Coral Glow with their lip pencil in Mandarin underneath.

China Glaze – Cosmic Dust

May 3rd, 2013

It’s about time I joined in on Kerstin’s Holo Friday again. Here’s another polish from the Hologlam collection, the light grey Cosmic Dust. I’m glad to see a color like this, and not just another silver holo. This is definitely a polish that I can see myself grabbing for when I’m not sure what to wear, and want something that goes with everything.

I applied three thin coats of the polish, it did look a bit sheer at two coats for me. I don’t remember having any troubles with the application.

First some sun pictures as usual to show off the beautiful rainbows:

Last photo is taken in the shade:

So, what do you think of Cosmic Dust? Beautiful or boring? I really like it!

Picture Polish – Kryptonite

May 1st, 2013

Long time no write for me… April has been a busy month so there hasn’t really been time nor motivation to write any blog posts. But if you’ve been stopping by anyway you may have noticed that there is some life on my Instagram feed in the sidebar.

But today I have a green beauty to show you on Karin’s Green Wednesday! I fell in love with this polish the first time I saw it a few years ago, and finally I have it. Kryptonite is a dark green jelly filled with irregular shaped holo shimmer. My photos do not do this polish justice, it has to be seen in real life. It was easy to apply, and I went with three coats to get real depth in it.

A couple of shots in the sun:

The next photo is taken in the shade, where the shimmer looks mostly silver:

201305_picture_polish_kryptonite_3

And last we have a closeup of it:

201305_picture_polish_kryptonite_25

Isn’t it gorgeous? I love that it has a jelly finish so that you can see the underlying shimmer, it gives the polish a wonderful depth.

Color Club – Over The Moon

April 5th, 2013

My plan was to show you another polish from China Glaze, but I had a draft with this polish so that’s what you’ll get today. I hope you’re not bored to death with Color Club holos yet, I still have a few to try out! Over The Moon is a gorgeous sky blue shade. I applied two coats without any top coat. Here’s a couple of shots in the sun:

201303_color_club_over_the_moon_2

I also took a photo in the shade to show how beautiful it is even without the super rainbows:

This is definitely one my faves from the 2013 Halo Hues!

Simple Easter Manicure with IsaDora

April 2nd, 2013

I was away celebrating Easter, which meant I had to prepare my Easter manicure a few days in advance. I didn’t have time to do anything fancy this year, so this is just another duo colored manicure. But that can be fun too, right? This is IsaDora Bella Vita, a bluish light purple, and IsaDora Mellow Yellow which I’ve shown you before. I think I applied three coats of each, and I blame the shrinkage and other stuff on my old goopy Seche Vite!

I had no sun so the pictures look a little dull:

isadora_bella_vita_mellow_yellow_2

isadora_bella_vita_mellow_yellow_1

Bella Vita has a tiny shimmer in it that is almost invisible on the nail, you have to get really close to see it. Mellow Yellow is definitely more shimmery, and I love this pale yellow shade!

Bella Vita was a nice match to one of the purple shades of the dress I was wearing:

I bought it from bonprix in case anyone’s interested.

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful Easter, I have yet to catch up with the latest blog posts out there.

China Glaze – OMG A UFO

March 29th, 2013

How about a break in all the Color Club holos for Holo Friday? Though I’m sure I won’t be alone in posting the new Hologlam polishes from China Glaze, I hope you won’t get bored. When I got my eight polishes from the collection I decided to try this one first, the golden olive green OMG A UFO? I love both the name and color of this!

I had to wait for a couple of days before I could photograph it, so there are some tip wear on this. I applied three coats without any top coat. The first thought I had when I started applying it is that it looked like it had a frosty finish before it dried. And if you’re not careful with the amount of polish you have on the brush it can get a little streaky. It dries really fast like most holographic polishes do, on a couple of nails I messed up a little when I was applying the second coat and managed to drag the underlying polish with it. But it did look OK in the end when I got used to the formula.

I found some morning sun to take these photos in:

201303_china_glaze_omg_a_ufo_1

201303_china_glaze_omg_a_ufo_2

I really like this polish, even though the holographic effect seems to drown a little in this color.

And with this I wish you all a Happy Easter!
