NailArt Sunday – Circuit Board

Sunday, September 1st, 2013

Being a geek I just couldn’t miss out on Lela’s NailArt Sunday today, since the theme for this week is circuit boards. I wanted to do something a little different than the standard green circuit board, so I went for a blue version. The base is two coats of China Glaze Man Hunt, and the lines where made with L. A. Girl Funkadelic. The dots where made with China Glaze Millennium and Wet n Wild Black Creme. And let me tell you one thing, it’s not easy making straight lines with a dotting tool! I think I need some better equipment for nail art.. Anyway, this is what the manicure ended up looking like:

My fiancé was almost disappointed that I didn’t do my other hand as well so I could wear it to work tomorrow =) But I’ll think I’ll do a full version someday when I have time to do a better job with it.

IsaDora – Blue Lagoon

Tuesday, August 20th, 2013

A while ago I showed you what IsaDora Blue Lagoon looked like with a coat of holo goodness on top. Here it is on its own, and it’s just as lovely like that. I’ve used two coats and then one coat of Seche Vite. The formula was really good and I am slowly getting used to IsaDora’s wide brush. Now this is a really happy blue color, I loved wearing this polish!

These photos where taken on a cloudy day.

The last photo is taken with flash to really bring out the bright blue color:

Layering with Depend – 2033 Ocean Blue

Friday, August 9th, 2013

This manicure is actually what I have on my tips right now for once. I’ve been wearing IsaDora’s Blue Lagoon for a couple of days and for Kerstin’s Holo Friday I decided to add a coat of Depend 2033 Ocean Blue.  Blue Lagoon is a bright light blue, and with the more dimmed blue color of Ocean Blue it became a nice sky blue shade. I think I’ll stick to using the holographic polishes from Depend for layering as they are quite sheer.

Thankfully the sun has been out today so I could get some nice photos of it:

I absolutely love this combination even if it’s not super holographic.

I wish you all a lovely weekend! I still have one week left of my vacation, so I can take it easy for a few more days before reality catches up again…

Cirque – Ophelia

Tuesday, June 25th, 2013

Another couple of weeks of silence.. I really can’t keep up can I? Anyway, it’s time to show you Cirque Ophelia. It’s a beautiful  periwinkle blue hex glitter in a clear base. It also has shimmer in it, I’m not quite sure if it’s the shimmer that makes this polish look iridescent, it seems to have a bit of a pink shift to it. What you see on the photos are two coats of Ophelia on top of one coat of the black creme Camelot from A England. The formula was really nice, it was fairly easy to get an even layer of glitter and it wasn’t goopy at all. I didn’t use top coat since it was only a quick swatch, but I imagine one layer of top coat would be enough to make it smooth.

This is what Ophelia looks like in indirect light:

Here it is in the sun:

How about a close-up?

I love the shimmer in it as well, it makes it more interesting than if it had just been the glitter. I’ll definitely be wearing this again, maybe with another base color.

OPI – Get Your Number

Monday, May 13th, 2013

How about a Blue Monday? It’s finally time to show you my first experience with the Liquid Sand finish from OPI. This is the blue Get Your Number from the Mariah Carey collection. When I got the polish I already had the blue holo Over The Moon on my nails, so I was lazy and just applied two coats of the polish on top of that. Looking at the photos I think it would have been better if I’ve used three coats, I’ll make sure to do that when I try the others.

So what do I think of the textured finish? I really like it, I like the matte finish and I don’t mind the texture. I actually couldn’t stop feeling my nails when I wore it =)

The holographic glitter particles are really beautiful in the sun.

Of course I had to try it with top coat on as well, and with that I think it was more obvious that I should have applied an extra coat of GYN, as the base looks a little streaky here and there.

I also took a crappy photo under my desk lamp, but I thought it showed off the glitter quite well:

I’m looking forward to trying more polishes with a textured finish, the Pixie Dust polishes from Zoya look really tempting for example, and I’ve seen that IsaDora will be releasing some as well.

Color Club – Over The Moon

Friday, April 5th, 2013

My plan was to show you another polish from China Glaze, but I had a draft with this polish so that’s what you’ll get today. I hope you’re not bored to death with Color Club holos yet, I still have a few to try out! Over The Moon is a gorgeous sky blue shade. I applied two coats without any top coat. Here’s a couple of shots in the sun:

I also took a photo in the shade to show how beautiful it is even without the super rainbows:

This is definitely one my faves from the 2013 Halo Hues!

IsaDora – Night Flight

Monday, February 18th, 2013

I finally have a blue polish for Monday, which means I can contribute to Mrs Data’s Blue Monday (Blå Måndag)! This is IsaDora Night Flight, a gorgeous dark blue shimmer that was released last Fall. This is two coats with Seche Vite on top. It was snowing when I was photographing so the light wasn’t the best.

I tend to forget about this color for some reason, I really should wear blues more often!

China Glaze – Lorelei’s Tiara

Saturday, February 9th, 2013

How about a New Year’s Eve manicure over a month later? I wore the gorgeous Lorelei’s Tiara which I just got a few months back. It’s from China Glaze’s Eye Candy collection and so far this is the only one I have from that collection. It’s a silver glitter with bigger glitter in a gorgeous blue/turquoise color.

This is two coats on top of Nails Inc Cambridge Terrace, which is a silver shimmer. I then needed two coats of Seche Vite to make it smoother.

I wore this for almost two weeks, it was hard to let it go!

IsaDora – Silk Road

Tuesday, January 29th, 2013

I wore this beauty a few months back, but I realized that I hadn’t posted it yet. I guess it’s about time to remind you of this beauty! IsaDora Silk Road is probably my favorite from the Jewels of the Orient collection. This is three coats, and I think I’ve worn it for a few days on these photos, hence some tip wear.

In the close-up you can see the different colors in the shimmer, like gold and purple.

The last photo is taken indoors with flash, the purple flecks is nearly invisible and instead it mostly looks like gold shimmer in a blue base.

This is such a wonderful polish! I know there are a few similar polishes out there, but I don’t own any of them (yet..).

Gina Tricot – Petrol

Saturday, January 26th, 2013

Petrol is the first creme polish that I’ve tried from Gina Tricot, and it was a pleasant encounter. The formula was easy to work with and I  ended up with two coats. I am really weak for petrol colored things, be it nail polish, makeup or clothes, so I couldn’t resist this one.

Here I’ve also tried Poshé top coat for the first time. I’ve been using Seche Vite for a couple of years now, but I can’t really get over how thick it gets after a while, so I figured it was time to try something new. My first impression is that I like the brush from Poshé much better, and it’s much easier to apply. But I don’t feel that it dries as quickly as Seche Vite, but I don’t know if that was just with this polish. I will continue my trial to see what I think of it.

It was a cloudy winter’s day so there’s no sun in these photos, just a gloomy gray sky.

The edges look a little weird, I’d probably been there with a nail file again, it took a while for me to get the shape right after shortening my nails.

There was one downside to this polish, it did stain my nails a little. But since I don’t use a base coat I guess I can only blame myself.. =)
