Jade – Energy

Friday, June 7th, 2013

I’m finally joining in on Skimmerskuggan’s Holo Friday again. Aaaah, that feels good.

I’ve actually had this Jade polish for a while, but once again I was foolish to try and save it for a special occasion. After seeing it at LeLack a few weeks ago I decided it was time to give this one a go. And as I expected I was not disappointed. Energy is a gorgeous teal holographic polish, and what you see below is three coats without top coat.

It’s a wonderful color with wonderful rainbows. If you like teal and holographic polishes I can highly recommend this polish if you don’t already have it!

Ozotic – 505

Wednesday, October 31st, 2012

It’s Halloween today, but unfortunately I haven’t had time to do anything fun with either nails or makeup today. But I have an enchanting polish to show you at least. I started out with one coat of the black Camelot from A England (and a coat of Seche Vite), and then I applied one coat of Ozotic 505. And look at the magic that appeared! This is truly a multichrome polish, shifting between teal, blurple, purple, burgundy and copper.

Behold the beauty:

The final shot was taken in sunlight to show the shimmer:

I think I’m in love…

And with this I wish you all a Happy Halloween!

Boo! =)

Color Club – Metamorphosis

Thursday, October 4th, 2012

I was only supposed to be missing in action for the weekend, but that turned into two weeks apparently. I have loads of work right now so I’ve fallen behind on the blogging at the moment. I’ll probably be behind on comments for yet another week, sorry!

At least I found some photos that I have already edited of Color Club Metamorphosis. It’s the only polish I have so far from the Take Wing collection, and it’s a beautiful teal shimmer with a tiny purple shift. When I had worn IsaDora Opposites Attract for a few days I decided to layer Metamorphosis on top. I think I only did one or two cats so that the magnetic pattern would still be noticeable.

And this is the result:

You can see a subtle green pattern shining through here.

In this angle some of the purple shift shows up.

I really liked this, the purple was more visible than I thought it would be, even if its far from being duochrome.

A England – Saint George

Friday, August 10th, 2012

For this Holo Friday I’m going with less holo, but it’s a beautiful polish nonetheless. It’s the teal colored Saint George, from A England’s The Legend collection. It was a while I ago I wore this, but I’m quite sure it’s two coats as with the others I’ve tried from this collection. It has a slight scattered holographic effect, which mostly makes blue and green shifts in the color. It gives it a beautiful depth and I really like this one!

A few shots in the sun:

(Please excuse the dry hands..)

And the last photo in the shade:

I absolutely love this color, and the holographic particles makes this something special.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend! My vacation is now over and on Monday it’s back to work again *sniffs*

Color Club Emerald Depths

Saturday, October 1st, 2011

When I made a comparison with some teal/aqua polishes Emerald Depths got some attention, and I thought it was time to show a full manicure with it. Unfortunately it doesn’t look it’s best here, I had cleaned the house before I took the photos, and you know what that can do to a polish!

Anyway, this is three coats plus Seche Vite top coat.

It’s a blue toned teal shimmer, and I really like this color.

Last photo is taken inside with flash:

I wasn’t so careful while applying it so I got some visible brush strokes, especially on the middle finger, but I don’t think it’s looks too bad.

Some Comparisons of Blue/Aqua/Teal Shimmers

Friday, August 5th, 2011

I bought a couple of polishes each from China Glaze’s and Misa’s summer collections, and when I looked at Mermaid Dreams and Blue Iguana I thought they needed a comparison. I also added one more blue from my collection.

Left to right: L.A. Girl Alkaline Blue, China Glaze Blue Iguana, and Misa Mermaid Dreams.

Here’s me trying to be pedagogical. I’ve applied two coats of each polish.

Blue Iguana in the middle is the sheerest and the greenest of the bunch. Alkaline Blue to the right is the darkest blue. I do find the finishes to be quite similar on all of these.

Here’s a close-up of Mermaid Dreams and Blue Iguana, and I think you can see the purple shift in BI here, and that’s what I think sets this one apart from the Misa polish. So I think you need both =)

I also bought Misa Krystal Water and wanted to compare it to other similar polishes, and to my horror I hardly found any in my stash! After some digging I came up with these to have something to compare it to:

Left to right: Viva La Diva no. 76, Misa Krystal Water, Color Club Emerald Depths.

This is also only two coats each.

Emerald Depths is the darkest and most blue, Krystal Water is the lightest one with it’s beautiful glassfleck shimmer, and VLD no. 76 is the greenest one. They’re all lovely in their own way!

DV8

Saturday, February 12th, 2011

I love teal. I love holos. I love China Glaze DV8. Do I need to say more? Okay I have few more things to say about it =) This is yet another polish from the OMG-collection as you probably all know already. Two coats were enough and I topped it with Seche Vite. It dried quite quickly as the rest of the OMG polishes. Unfortunately I didn’t have any sun to photograph in but I think I managed to capture some of the holo effect anyway.

Bling closeup!

Evil Eyed Goblin

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

I felt like doing a dark look, and pulled out some of Meow’s Halloween collections. I’ve mainly used pigments from the Halloween Zombies collection, but also Dance of Death and Friday the 13th. When it comes to the colors I’ve used plum shades on the lids, and a dark green/teal in the crease.

Here’s what I’ve used:
Urban Decay – Primer Potion
Nyx – Jumbo Eye Pencil Black Bean smudged on lid
Meow – Goblin (Zombies) on entire lid except outer third
Meow – Evil Eye (Zombies) on outer third of the lid
Meow – Zombie (Zombies) in the crease and along lower lash line
Meow – Spellbinding (Dance of Death) as highlight on the brow bone
Meow – Broken Mirror (Friday the 13th) on top of Zombie in the crease to blend out, and in the inner corner of my eye
Nyx – Jumbo Eye Pencil Cottage Cheese in the inner corner of my eye
Urban Decay – 24/7 Eye liner in Zero on upper lash line
Isadora – Inliner kajal in Blonde on lower water line
Lancome – Hypnose Precious Cells Mascara

Photos are taken with flash. I hope you like it!

I love Halloween so I’ll try to do some more looks this month, and hopefully a little more interesting than this one.
