Too Faced – La Crème Lipstick – Juicy Melons

March 23rd, 2013

I haven’t posted anything else than nail polish in quite some time, I’m going through my photos to see if I can dig up some fun looks to post. But right now I have a new lipstick that I want to show you. Back in August I bought two of the Too Faced La Crème Color Drenched Lip Cream  in Nude Beach and Fuchsia Shock. Back then I thought it was the nude shade that I would use the most, but since I’ve been doing a lot of neutral eye looks this past Winter I’ve wanted a pop of color to my lips. So Fuchsia Shock has been perfect for that.

Someday Spring will come to Sweden (I hope!) and for that I wanted a new fun color, so I ordered the pinky coral shade Juicy Melons from BeautyBay.

So here it is. I noticed that there is a relief (is there a better word to describe it?) on the top of the cap now, that was not present on the first two I bought. Well, it makes it easier to find this one at least.

201303_too_faced_la_creme_lipstick_juicy_melons

It’s a fresh and nice shade that’s useable at the office, if you don’t want to stand out too much but still want something fun.

I also swatched it together with my other two La Crème lipsticks:

L-R: Nude Beach, Juicy Melons, Fuchsia Shock

When I’m wearing these I usually just blot them a little, since they’re so creamy they can have  a tendency to slide off. If you you want maximum color and staying power I really think it’s best to use a lip liner underneath. I’ll have to try that with Fuchsia Shock sometime.

What do you think of these? Have you tried any of them yourself?

Color Club – Angel Kiss

March 22nd, 2013

Yay it’s time for Skimmerskuggan’s Holo Friday again! Today I’m showing you my favorite from the Color Club Halo Hues 2012 collection, the light green Angel Kiss. I applied three coats and didn’t use a top coat. I totally fell in love with this and wore it for a whole week. When I wore it I found it more turquoise than the sea foam green that I excepted, but it was gorgeous nonetheless.

I also took a photo after six days, as I was quite impressed with how little tip wear I had without top coat:

Not that I do much work with my hands, being a lazy geek, but still… =)

Dimmed Skittles

March 20th, 2013

A while ago I felt like doing a Skittles manicure with some more dimmed colors. I knew I wanted to try the blue Manhunt from China Glaze, And I picked a few other Fall shades to go with it.

The colors are from thumb to pinkie: China Glaze – Urban-Night, China Glaze – Manhunt, China Glaze – Concrete Catwalk, IsaDora – Jaded, China Glaze – Purr-fect Plum.

I went with two-three coats of each polish, and I’m pretty sure it’s Poshé top coat. The photos are taken in cloudy weather.

The bottle I’m holding is Urban-Night, I figured I’d go for that one since it was hard to get my thumb nail in focus with the rest to show it off. I have used most of these shades on their own as well, but I haven’t blogged about them. I usually go for cremes during the work week, and then I haven’t had the chance to get any good photos of them.

I really liked this combination!

Favorite Polishes & Manicures of 2012

March 15th, 2013

I’ve finally managed to compile a list of my faves of 2012. Better late than never eh? =) I didn’t take into account when the polishes were released, I just listed those that I’ve worn and that I’ve liked during the year =) And since I haven’t been all that active I’m throwing in some favorite nail art in the mix as well.

So, here’s my list, all the pictures are linked to the original post if you want to take a closer look at something.

Cactus’ Nail Polish – Boron

The bluest holographic polish I have, it’s wonderful! And probably the rarest polish I own as well =)

Essence – Walk On The Wild Side

201211_essence_walk_on_the_wild_side_1

This is such a beautiful green shade, and the green shimmer really adds an extra dimension to this.

IsaDora – Silk Road

201209_isadora_silk_road_2

I love the multicolored shimmer in Silk Road!

Lorelei’s Tiara

201212_china_glaze_loreleis_tiara_1

Definitely one of my all time favorites when it comes to glitters. If you don’t have it I can strongly recommend it!

So, this was 18 different polishes/manicures, I didn’t quite have enough to choose from to get to 20, but I’m hoping to reach 20 next year!

Color Club – Cloud Nine

March 1st, 2013

I thought I was back in business again with my blog, but it’s been a bit too quiet lately (again!). I really suck at keeping it up! And I still haven’t posted my faves from last year.. At least I try to hang on to Skimmerskuggan’s Holo Fridays, there’s nothing better than ending the work week with some good holo =)

This is the light purple Cloud Nine from last years Halo Hues collection from Color Club. The sun was making a short appearance so I hurried to capture this one. I love the formula on these polishes, they’re easy to work with and dry pretty quickly. This was two coats and no top coat. If I’d been wearing it for more than a day I’d probably go for a third coat.

201302_color_club_cloud_nine_1

201302_color_club_cloud_nine_2

201302_color_club_cloud_nine_3

The last photo is taken with the sun behind some clouds. I think you can tell that it’s a pale light purple, but it’s really similar to the pink Halo-graphic from the same collection. I guess it would be enough to own one of them, but I just had to have them all.. =)

IsaDora – Night Flight

February 18th, 2013

I finally have a blue polish for Monday, which means I can contribute to Mrs Data’s Blue Monday (Blå Måndag)! This is IsaDora Night Flight, a gorgeous dark blue shimmer that was released last Fall. This is two coats with Seche Vite on top. It was snowing when I was photographing so the light wasn’t the best.

I tend to forget about this color for some reason, I really should wear blues more often!

Color Club – Kismet

February 15th, 2013

Yay, it’s Holo Friday! I haven’t even tried all the Halo Hues from 2012 before I’m all over the new ones. Today I have the light (lime?) green Kismet from Color Club’s Halo Hues collection from this year, which I’m sure you’ve all seen already. I had no light for these photos either, so these are taken with flash. I applied three coats and there where no problems at all with the application.

201302_color_club_kismet_2

It’s a beautiful shade that I think will be fun for Spring and Summer.

Have you bought any of the new Halo Hues polishes? I will soon have all of them, I just couldn’t resist them!

Valentine’s Day Manicure

February 14th, 2013

Today is Valentine’s Day, so I’ve made a tiny effort to use my stamping plates for once. I wanted to go with a pink base, so I applied three thin coats of Orly Basket Case. It’s a gorgeous hot pink creme that’s been standing in my Helmer way too long without being tried. I chose a heart design from the Konad plate M3, and I used China Glaze Millennium (a beautiful silver chrome) for the stamping. For top coat I used Poshe. I still haven’t really decided if I like it better than Seche Vite or not. My gut is still in love with Seche..

The hearts ended up too far to the edge of the nail, but I didn’t have time to redo it so it’ll have to do =) And since I don’t have access to any light during the weekdays I had to take the photos with flash.

How about a hunk for Valentine’s Day? Can you say no to this guy’s invite?

Aaah I wanna go rub his belly now!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

China Glaze – Lorelei’s Tiara

February 9th, 2013

How about a New Year’s Eve manicure over a month later? I wore the gorgeous Lorelei’s Tiara which I just got a few months back. It’s from China Glaze’s Eye Candy collection and so far this is the only one I have from that collection. It’s a silver glitter with bigger glitter in a gorgeous blue/turquoise color.

This is two coats on top of Nails Inc Cambridge Terrace, which is a silver shimmer. I then needed two coats of Seche Vite to make it smoother.

I wore this for almost two weeks, it was hard to let it go!

Milani – Hi-Res

February 8th, 2013

It’s time for Holo Friday again! I don’t remember if I’ve worn Hi-Res before, so I figured I could show it today. It’s a light purple with a scattered holographic effect. These Milani polishes are pretty sheer so I applied four thin coats. What I like about Milani’s 3D polishes is that they work well both on their own and for for layering.

The sun was disappearing when I took the photos so the holographic goodness isn’t as prominent as it could have been.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend, I’m going to eat my Friday tacos now and have some Fredagsmys! (best translated as Friday cosiness) =)
