Glitter Gal – Not Another Red

Friday, December 21st, 2012

So, Friday before Christmas, I figured I would show you the only red holographic polish I have to date. Glitter Gal Not Another Red is a pinky red polish from their 3D Holographic range. It’s my only Glitter Gal polish so far and after trying this I’m definitely getting more! This is two coats and it was really easy to apply. The holographic effect isn’t super strong, but you get nice scattered rainbows in the sun.

The last photo is taken indoors in sunlight, the color looks a little deeper there.

I can’t believe that it’s Christmas in just a few days, I haven’t really had time to stop and think lately. But I do know that I look forward to having some time off!

Zoya – Kimber

Wednesday, November 14th, 2012

I’m still digging through photos from the past year to edit for the blog, it’s nice to have something to fall back on when there’s hardly any light to photograph in these days. Here’s a polish that I wore a few months back, the beautiful Kimber from Zoya’s Surf Collection. From what I can tell the color is a mix of coral, red and pink, and it’s filled with orange/golden shimmer. I don’t remember the number of coats, but if I would guess it’s probably my usual three with Seche Vite on top.

Just look at that beautiful shimmer!

Zoya Rica & Orly Emberstone

Thursday, August 30th, 2012

This manicure is from June, I’m still wading through photos from these past few months. The main color here is the orange/coral/pink? Rica from Zoya, and as an accent on my ring fingers I’ve used the warm red Orly Emberstone. I paired these as I thought the golden/orange shimmer in Emberstone looked similar to Rica. I probably did three or four thin coats to get some nice depths in these polishes.

I’m not too happy with these photos, but I hope you can see some of their beauty. First a couple of shots in the sun:

And the last ones are in indirect light:

A closeup from the last photo:

The multi-colored shimmer in Emberstone is quite stunning, I love the mix of pink and gold shimmer.

China Glaze Ruby Pumps

Saturday, December 31st, 2011

A couple of months ago I started thinking about what to wear for Christmas, and I realized I didn’t have many red polishes at all. I quickly got my hands on the classic Ruby Pumps from China Glaze, and I’m really glad to finally have it! Of course the weather didn’t cooperate as usual this time of year, but I did get some sun finally after wearing this for about five days.

So first some photos with sunlight:

I can’t say that the photos do it much justice, it looks more beautiful in real life.

The next two photos are older and without sunlight:

The photo above is taken with flash under the bedroom lamp. And the last one is taken in the shade a cloudy morning:

It was quite hard to capture the beauty of this one, but I’m sure most of you already know what it looks like =)

And now I’m trying to figure out what to do for New Year’s Eve, I’m thinking of doing something pink/purple, maybe with glitter, or maybe holographic. Do you know what your New Year’s Eve manicure will look like?

The Show Must Go On!

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

I only got Let Me Entertain You from OPI’s Burlesque collection at first,  but after seeing all the lovely photos of The Show Must Go On! I just had to get this one as well. Even if I prefer LMEY I’m glad I got this one, if just for the name (it’s one of my favorite Queen songs!).

I applied three coats and then Seche Vite. I can’t say I love the OPI brush as I find it a bit too wide, but it’s still quite okay for application. I had a hard time photographing it but I managed to take some quick photos in the morning sun.

I think this is described as a pink shade, but honestly I think it looks more like bright red for the most part. But here you can see both red and pink.

Here you can clearly see the orange/gold tone of this polish.

The duochrome effect isn’t that strong in “normal” angles, but it does make it a little more interesting. I think what I like the most with this is the shimmer, it’s gorgeous!

This photo is taken inside with flash, to try and capture how sparkly TSMGO is.

L.A. Girl Iron Red

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

The first polish that I tried from my latest Cherry Culture order was Iron Red. I hardly have any reds in my stash, but this one seemed interesting enough, and I really like it. It’s a light cool red with lots of metallic shimmer. I applied three layers as usual, and there might be a slight hint of VNL, but nothing that you really notice.

I managed to find some daylight! The middle finger looks a bit weird since I managed to hit it on something right after I finished all the layers. Clumsy me!

Taken inside with flash.

I almost get a Christmas feeling when I wear this, and I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing.. =) Maybe it’s because I’m not used to reds, I usually go for pink and purple shades.
