Cactus’ Nail Polish – Thallium

Friday, September 6th, 2013

How about a gorgeous green polish for Kerstin’s Holo Friday? This is one of Cactus’ polishes which where on sale earlier this year, and I’m really glad I got hold of this. It’s not super holographic, but the bright lime green color just makes me so happy! The funny thing is, this is a color I wouldn’t have looked twice at a few years ago. I’m glad I’ve my taste has developed over the years so I can enjoy more colors on my paws =)

I applied four thin coats and it dried very quickly to a matte finish, so I topped it of with a coat of Poshé top coat.

Here are some sunny photos:

There’s still some minor VNL but it didn’t really bother me at all.

I wish you a wonderful weekend! I will try and enjoy the great weather outside, as it might well be the last weekend with summer temperatures for the season.

Color Club – Miss Bliss

Friday, August 16th, 2013

I found some old photos of this polish that I hadn’t posted yet, so here it is today for Kerstin’s Holo Friday. Color Club Miss Bliss is the pink shade from the Halo Hues collection that came out this year. The color isn’t very special or original at all, but the pretty rainbows makes it well worth having. I don’t remember how many coats I applied but I would guess three. I really like the formula on these polishes, there are no bald spots whatsoever!

Here it is in the sun:

And photo of it in the shade:

It’s a little deeper in the tone than Halo-Graphic from the 2012 Halo Hues collection, so if you don’t have any of those I would recommend this one.

On Monday I’ll be back at work, and I sure will miss being free all day long. Ah well, nothing lasts forever.. Except my love for holographic polishes =D

Layering with Depend – 2033 Ocean Blue

Friday, August 9th, 2013

This manicure is actually what I have on my tips right now for once. I’ve been wearing IsaDora’s Blue Lagoon for a couple of days and for Kerstin’s Holo Friday I decided to add a coat of Depend 2033 Ocean Blue.  Blue Lagoon is a bright light blue, and with the more dimmed blue color of Ocean Blue it became a nice sky blue shade. I think I’ll stick to using the holographic polishes from Depend for layering as they are quite sheer.

Thankfully the sun has been out today so I could get some nice photos of it:

I absolutely love this combination even if it’s not super holographic.

I wish you all a lovely weekend! I still have one week left of my vacation, so I can take it easy for a few more days before reality catches up again…

A England – Princess Sabra

Friday, June 28th, 2013

Yay it’s time for Skimmerskuggan’s Holo Friday again! Princess Sabra is one of the holographic polishes from A England’s the Legends collection. It has the additional name Tristam Eyes (the creator Adina’s cat), and I can really see this being the color of a cat eye. is color. I would describe the color as a olive toned beige/gold, and it’s a nice discrete color. I applied two coats of Princess Sabra, if I were to wear it longer than a day I would probably have gone for three coats. Unfortunately the brush in this bottle was really wonky so the application wasn’t the best.

Lets take a look at it in the sun:

The holographic effect wasn’t visible at all when I photographed it in the shade:

I took another photo by the computer to try and catch the slight holographic effect indoors. It’s grainy and the color is a bit off, but I think you get the idea of what it looks like:

In normal lighting the holographic effect gives the color some extra depth, and it’s really quite beautiful. It’s a really nice polish, the only bad thing was the brush, but that can happen to the best of brands.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend! I hope I can get to edit some photos for the blog, I have loads of stuff that I still haven’t posted and it just keeps piling up.

Jade – Energy

Friday, June 7th, 2013

I’m finally joining in on Skimmerskuggan’s Holo Friday again. Aaaah, that feels good.

I’ve actually had this Jade polish for a while, but once again I was foolish to try and save it for a special occasion. After seeing it at LeLack a few weeks ago I decided it was time to give this one a go. And as I expected I was not disappointed. Energy is a gorgeous teal holographic polish, and what you see below is three coats without top coat.

It’s a wonderful color with wonderful rainbows. If you like teal and holographic polishes I can highly recommend this polish if you don’t already have it!

China Glaze – Infra Red

Friday, May 10th, 2013

This Holo Friday I have another Hologlam polish to show you, this time with more color than last week. Infra Red is a gorgeous deep magenta color with a beautiful linear holographic effect. I applied two coats of this for full opacity.

This is what it looks like in the sun:

It still looks wonderful in the shade thanks to the rich base color:

This may very well be my favorite from the collection! That’s probably not a surprise since I absolutely love QT from the OMG collection. They’re definitely not dupes but they are both dark pinks which I have a weakness for.

And with this I wish you all a wonderful weekend! I hope there will be more sun so I can photograph some more nice holos soon =)

China Glaze – Cosmic Dust

Friday, May 3rd, 2013

It’s about time I joined in on Kerstin’s Holo Friday again. Here’s another polish from the Hologlam collection, the light grey Cosmic Dust. I’m glad to see a color like this, and not just another silver holo. This is definitely a polish that I can see myself grabbing for when I’m not sure what to wear, and want something that goes with everything.

I applied three thin coats of the polish, it did look a bit sheer at two coats for me. I don’t remember having any troubles with the application.

First some sun pictures as usual to show off the beautiful rainbows:

Last photo is taken in the shade:

So, what do you think of Cosmic Dust? Beautiful or boring? I really like it!

Picture Polish – Kryptonite

Wednesday, May 1st, 2013

Long time no write for me… April has been a busy month so there hasn’t really been time nor motivation to write any blog posts. But if you’ve been stopping by anyway you may have noticed that there is some life on my Instagram feed in the sidebar.

But today I have a green beauty to show you on Karin’s Green Wednesday! I fell in love with this polish the first time I saw it a few years ago, and finally I have it. Kryptonite is a dark green jelly filled with irregular shaped holo shimmer. My photos do not do this polish justice, it has to be seen in real life. It was easy to apply, and I went with three coats to get real depth in it.

A couple of shots in the sun:

The next photo is taken in the shade, where the shimmer looks mostly silver:

And last we have a closeup of it:

201305_picture_polish_kryptonite_25

Isn’t it gorgeous? I love that it has a jelly finish so that you can see the underlying shimmer, it gives the polish a wonderful depth.

Color Club – Over The Moon

Friday, April 5th, 2013

My plan was to show you another polish from China Glaze, but I had a draft with this polish so that’s what you’ll get today. I hope you’re not bored to death with Color Club holos yet, I still have a few to try out! Over The Moon is a gorgeous sky blue shade. I applied two coats without any top coat. Here’s a couple of shots in the sun:

I also took a photo in the shade to show how beautiful it is even without the super rainbows:

This is definitely one my faves from the 2013 Halo Hues!

China Glaze – OMG A UFO

Friday, March 29th, 2013

How about a break in all the Color Club holos for Holo Friday? Though I’m sure I won’t be alone in posting the new Hologlam polishes from China Glaze, I hope you won’t get bored. When I got my eight polishes from the collection I decided to try this one first, the golden olive green OMG A UFO? I love both the name and color of this!

I had to wait for a couple of days before I could photograph it, so there are some tip wear on this. I applied three coats without any top coat. The first thought I had when I started applying it is that it looked like it had a frosty finish before it dried. And if you’re not careful with the amount of polish you have on the brush it can get a little streaky. It dries really fast like most holographic polishes do, on a couple of nails I messed up a little when I was applying the second coat and managed to drag the underlying polish with it. But it did look OK in the end when I got used to the formula.

I found some morning sun to take these photos in:

201303_china_glaze_omg_a_ufo_1

201303_china_glaze_omg_a_ufo_2

I really like this polish, even though the holographic effect seems to drown a little in this color.

And with this I wish you all a Happy Easter!
