Jade – Energy

Friday, June 7th, 2013

I’m finally joining in on Skimmerskuggan’s Holo Friday again. Aaaah, that feels good.

I’ve actually had this Jade polish for a while, but once again I was foolish to try and save it for a special occasion. After seeing it at LeLack a few weeks ago I decided it was time to give this one a go. And as I expected I was not disappointed. Energy is a gorgeous teal holographic polish, and what you see below is three coats without top coat.

It’s a wonderful color with wonderful rainbows. If you like teal and holographic polishes I can highly recommend this polish if you don’t already have it!

China Glaze – Infra Red

Friday, May 10th, 2013

This Holo Friday I have another Hologlam polish to show you, this time with more color than last week. Infra Red is a gorgeous deep magenta color with a beautiful linear holographic effect. I applied two coats of this for full opacity.

This is what it looks like in the sun:

It still looks wonderful in the shade thanks to the rich base color:

This may very well be my favorite from the collection! That’s probably not a surprise since I absolutely love QT from the OMG collection. They’re definitely not dupes but they are both dark pinks which I have a weakness for.

And with this I wish you all a wonderful weekend! I hope there will be more sun so I can photograph some more nice holos soon =)

China Glaze – Cosmic Dust

Friday, May 3rd, 2013

It’s about time I joined in on Kerstin’s Holo Friday again. Here’s another polish from the Hologlam collection, the light grey Cosmic Dust. I’m glad to see a color like this, and not just another silver holo. This is definitely a polish that I can see myself grabbing for when I’m not sure what to wear, and want something that goes with everything.

I applied three thin coats of the polish, it did look a bit sheer at two coats for me. I don’t remember having any troubles with the application.

First some sun pictures as usual to show off the beautiful rainbows:

So, what do you think of Cosmic Dust? Beautiful or boring? I really like it!

Picture Polish – Kryptonite

Wednesday, May 1st, 2013

Long time no write for me… April has been a busy month so there hasn’t really been time nor motivation to write any blog posts. But if you’ve been stopping by anyway you may have noticed that there is some life on my Instagram feed in the sidebar.

But today I have a green beauty to show you on Karin’s Green Wednesday! I fell in love with this polish the first time I saw it a few years ago, and finally I have it. Kryptonite is a dark green jelly filled with irregular shaped holo shimmer. My photos do not do this polish justice, it has to be seen in real life. It was easy to apply, and I went with three coats to get real depth in it.

A couple of shots in the sun:

The next photo is taken in the shade, where the shimmer looks mostly silver:

And last we have a closeup of it:

Isn’t it gorgeous? I love that it has a jelly finish so that you can see the underlying shimmer, it gives the polish a wonderful depth.

Color Club – Over The Moon

Friday, April 5th, 2013

My plan was to show you another polish from China Glaze, but I had a draft with this polish so that’s what you’ll get today. I hope you’re not bored to death with Color Club holos yet, I still have a few to try out! Over The Moon is a gorgeous sky blue shade. I applied two coats without any top coat. Here’s a couple of shots in the sun:

I also took a photo in the shade to show how beautiful it is even without the super rainbows:

This is definitely one my faves from the 2013 Halo Hues!

China Glaze – OMG A UFO

Friday, March 29th, 2013

How about a break in all the Color Club holos for Holo Friday? Though I’m sure I won’t be alone in posting the new Hologlam polishes from China Glaze, I hope you won’t get bored. When I got my eight polishes from the collection I decided to try this one first, the golden olive green OMG A UFO? I love both the name and color of this!

I had to wait for a couple of days before I could photograph it, so there are some tip wear on this. I applied three coats without any top coat. The first thought I had when I started applying it is that it looked like it had a frosty finish before it dried. And if you’re not careful with the amount of polish you have on the brush it can get a little streaky. It dries really fast like most holographic polishes do, on a couple of nails I messed up a little when I was applying the second coat and managed to drag the underlying polish with it. But it did look OK in the end when I got used to the formula.

I found some morning sun to take these photos in:

I really like this polish, even though the holographic effect seems to drown a little in this color.

And with this I wish you all a Happy Easter!

They’re here! China Glaze Hologlam Haul

Saturday, March 23rd, 2013

I preordered eight of the twelve polishes from the new holographic collection from China Glaze, Hologlam, and they arrived earlier this week. This is a collection that many of us have been waiting for, but I’ve tried to keep my expectations low. The colors I chose where the following:

201303_china_glaze_hologram_haul_1

L-R: OMG A UFO, Don’t Be A Luna-tic, Take A Trek, Strap On Your Moonboots

201303_china_glaze_hologram_haul_2

L-R: Cosmic Dust, Galactic Gray, When Stars Collide, Infra Red

I love the color of Infra Red. OMG A UFO and When Stars Collide are really unique colors in my collection when it comes to holos. It’s going to interesting to try these out!

So, the big question is: Do they live up to the expectations of the now legendary OMG!-collection? To get an idea of the holographic effect I swatched two OMG-colors and two Hologlam colors that where somewhat similar in color.

From left to right you have: QT, Infra-red, L8R G8R, OMG A UFO. After looking at these in different angles in the sun you do see a difference in the holographic rainbows. The particles seem to be of a similar size, but the holographic effect is over a smaller area in the new colors, and also a little more diffused.

201303_china_glaze_hologlam_omg_comparison_2

201303_china_glaze_hologlam_omg_comparison_3

Speaking of the colors, Infra Red is like a deeper version of QT, so if you have been lemming QT I think you can be quite happy with Infra Red.

So, what do you think? I think they look really good actually. If you wanted the mega holographic rainbows like the Color Club Halo Hues you might be disappointed, but compared to the old China Glaze collection I think they’re really nice. It’s way better than that Tronica collection, there’s not much action in those!

Color Club – Angel Kiss

Friday, March 22nd, 2013

Yay it’s time for Skimmerskuggan’s Holo Friday again! Today I’m showing you my favorite from the Color Club Halo Hues 2012 collection, the light green Angel Kiss. I applied three coats and didn’t use a top coat. I totally fell in love with this and wore it for a whole week. When I wore it I found it more turquoise than the sea foam green that I excepted, but it was gorgeous nonetheless.

I also took a photo after six days, as I was quite impressed with how little tip wear I had without top coat:

Not that I do much work with my hands, being a lazy geek, but still… =)

Color Club – Cloud Nine

Friday, March 1st, 2013

I thought I was back in business again with my blog, but it’s been a bit too quiet lately (again!). I really suck at keeping it up! And I still haven’t posted my faves from last year.. At least I try to hang on to Skimmerskuggan’s Holo Fridays, there’s nothing better than ending the work week with some good holo =)

This is the light purple Cloud Nine from last years Halo Hues collection from Color Club. The sun was making a short appearance so I hurried to capture this one. I love the formula on these polishes, they’re easy to work with and dry pretty quickly. This was two coats and no top coat. If I’d been wearing it for more than a day I’d probably go for a third coat.

The last photo is taken with the sun behind some clouds. I think you can tell that it’s a pale light purple, but it’s really similar to the pink Halo-graphic from the same collection. I guess it would be enough to own one of them, but I just had to have them all.. =)

Color Club – Kismet

Friday, February 15th, 2013

Yay, it’s Holo Friday! I haven’t even tried all the Halo Hues from 2012 before I’m all over the new ones. Today I have the light (lime?) green Kismet from Color Club’s Halo Hues collection from this year, which I’m sure you’ve all seen already. I had no light for these photos either, so these are taken with flash. I applied three coats and there where no problems at all with the application.

It’s a beautiful shade that I think will be fun for Spring and Summer.

Have you bought any of the new Halo Hues polishes? I will soon have all of them, I just couldn’t resist them!
