Color Club Antiquated

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

Yay, I managed to do a post about a non-holographic polish! Here’s Antiquated from Color Club’s Foiled collection, it’s a champagne colored foil. I’m pretty sure I used two coats, and it dried fairly quickly.

The first photo is with the sun shining in through the window:

It has a beautiful shimmer in the sun.

And one in indirect light:

Here it looks more matte, and I like that look as well.

I wasn’t really sure if this color suited me, but I quite liked it anyway. But to be honest I got a bit tired of it after a few days, I want more colors now!

KleanColor Metallic Black And Some Layering With Nfu Oh 48

Saturday, September 10th, 2011

Mmmm.. black… *said in Homer Simpson style while drooling*. KleanColor Metallic Black looks nearly black with its silver shimmer, and dries a little matte. I really love this finish, and as with the rest of the polishes in this collection one coat was enough (except for the ring finger, I was clumsy and dented it).

It looks like there’s tip wear, but I had just filed my nails and it kind of looked weird because of that.

The shimmer looks quite lovely in the sun.

While I was taking photos inside, my cat Lakrits wanted to join in, so here you have a fur background =)

I thought this polish was perfect to layer something on, so I chose my Nfu Oh 48 to put on top of it. That one has a sheer pink base, with silver shimmer and flakies that change color between yellow, orange, green and some kind of salmon pink. Let’s see what that looks like:

I really like this combination!

Here you see some of the color shifts in the flakies.

Ooops, haven’t done my cleanup I see..

KleanColor Metallic Aqua

Saturday, September 3rd, 2011

I’m continuing trying out KleanColor polishes, now it’s time for Metallic Aqua. After the staining from Metallic Pink I thought it would be best to use a base coat, so I put on Seche Ridge Filling Base Coat, and then one coat of Metallic Aqua. I don’t remember having any troubles with the drying time here.

And what do I have to say about this one? I love the color! I wouldn’t really call it aqua though, it’s more blue than that.

In natural light.

With flash to show the shimmer.

KleanColor Metallic Pink and Metallic Purple

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

I was really looking forward to trying out the Metallic polishes from KleanColor, and I had a hard time deciding which one to try first. So I chose to wear both Pink and Purple =) I used to wear manicures like this in my teens (over 10 years ago, time does fly..), and it was fun doing it again.

So, this is one coat each of the polishes, the formula is fantastic! I did not apply top coat since it dried pretty fast.

Photos are taken in direct sunlight.

Metallic Purple is a gorgeous cool purple.

Metallic Pink is a beautiful dark pink/fuchsia.

This one is taken inside in natural light. My thumbnail is slowly making progress…

I wanted shots of both my hands so my dear fiance helped out with these. Click for bigger version.

I absolutely loved this manicure, it definitely felt like me!

Oh, and I just want to show you what my nails looked like after removing this manicure:

Yes, the pink stains! I’ll be sure to at least wear a base coat next time I wear it.

L.A. Girl Graphite

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

Here’s yet another polish from L.A. Girl’s Metal collection, which I’ve only had good things to say about. And I’m not stopping now! Graphite is a dark grey foil with silver shimmer, and I love it in every way! The formula is fantastic and easy to get along with. I applied two coats and topped it with Seche Vite.

I took these photos under a construction light. It’s not the best lighting, but I’m trying out some options in my home while I wait for the sun to come back.

Do you have any L.A Girl polishes? What do you think of this brand? It’s definitely on my top 5 list when it comes to polishes.

L.A. Girl Iron Red

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

The first polish that I tried from my latest Cherry Culture order was Iron Red. I hardly have any reds in my stash, but this one seemed interesting enough, and I really like it. It’s a light cool red with lots of metallic shimmer. I applied three layers as usual, and there might be a slight hint of VNL, but nothing that you really notice.

I managed to find some daylight! The middle finger looks a bit weird since I managed to hit it on something right after I finished all the layers. Clumsy me!

Taken inside with flash.

I almost get a Christmas feeling when I wear this, and I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing.. =) Maybe it’s because I’m not used to reds, I usually go for pink and purple shades.

Isadora Galaxy

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010

Galaxy is probably one of my favorite polishes from the Swedish brand Isadora, this is the third time I’ve worn it. It’s a beautiful light metallic purple/pink with loads of glittery shimmer. The photos don’t quite do it justice. This is three thin layers as I usually do. It’s not fully opaque, but it’s not really anything you notice until you hold your hand up against the light.

Inside with flash.

Outside in the shade.

Do you see all the stars in the galaxy? =)

L.A. Girl Millennium

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

Here’s another fantastic polish from L.A. Girls Metal collection, the purple Millennium. Like Chromium Green this is a metallic kind of shade with silver micro glitter. It’s a beautiful medium purple and applies really well. This is also an old NOTD so I don’t remember how many coats I did =) Probably two or three.

Isn’t it gorgeous? I can’t wait to try out the rest of the polishes I have from this collection.

China Glaze Awaken

Saturday, October 2nd, 2010

Awaken is from the Romantique Collection, and is a beautiful grey (frosty?) metallic. This applied like a dream and I went for two coats (I normally go for three excluding base coat). And for this manicure I used Seche Vite top coat for the first time! I’ve never really understood the need for a good top coat, but I think I’m starting to get the point now =) I thought I put on too much, but it dried nice and quick, and I made sure to wrap it around the edges since I’ve read that it may cause some shrinking of the underlying polish.

Taken in daylight. It looks a bit blue here, but it is really a neutral grey tone.

Taken with flash.
