Hauls & Hair

Sunday, May 5th, 2013

While I was away from the blog I’ve been ordering some new fun stuff that I thought I would show you.

First of all, the polishes from A England that had to take an extra trip thanks to the stupid regulations of Royal Mail to not ship polishes anymore. I was glad when they finally showed up in my mailbox!

L-R: Dorian Gray, Tess d´Urbervilles, She Walks In Beauty, Princess Sabra, Holy Grail Limited Edition

To be honest I just bought Holy Grail since it’s now Limited Edition, I’d much rather want the new edition… =)

Next up are some OPI:s that I bought on Ebay. Since I couldn’t decide which Liquid Sand polishes I wanted to try from the Mariah Carey collection, I went for the mini sizes. And I literally squeed when I saw the little bottles, aren’t they cute? I also ordered Live And Let Die from the Skyfall collection, I’ve been drooling over that one for quite a while now.

L-R- Get Your Number, Can’t Let Go, The Impossible, Stay The Night, Live And Let Die.

Next up are some polishes from Illamasqua. They’re not my first from that brand, I actually have Scarab since quite a few years ago but I  haven’t worn it yet (shame on me!).

L-R: Pink Raindrops, Speckle, Nomad, Cameo, Noble.

I wanted to buy the original Raindrops as well but it was out of stock when I ordered. At least I have an excuse to make a new order in the future =)

And last but not least, some indie polishes that I ordered from the new Swedish web shop Edgy Polish. It’s nice to have so many gorgeous indie polishes available to buy here in Sweden!

L-R: Cirque Hellebore, Cirque Dark Horse, Cirque Ophelia, Smitten Polish Butter Mint

I’m not that familiar with all the indie brands out there, so I actually chose these a bit at random. I’m really looking forward to trying these.

And on to something totally unrelated: A couple of months ago I did a big change with my hair. After having long hair for about eight years I was so sick and tired of it, so I went to the hairdresser to get it all chopped off into a pixie. And I love it! There’s almost no hair to wash, it dries super quickly, and I can do different hair styles every day that doesn’t take forever to do. With long hair the big question was: ponytail or no ponytail? That was everything I could do with my skills, curling my hair was something I only had time to do once a year or so.

My fiance is still struggling with the change, poor guy.. But I know he loves me no matter what <3

If you want to now what lippie I’m wearing on the second pic it’s IsaDora Coral Glow with their lip pencil in Mandarin underneath.

They’re here! China Glaze Hologlam Haul

Saturday, March 23rd, 2013

I preordered eight of the twelve polishes from the new holographic collection from China Glaze, Hologlam, and they arrived earlier this week. This is a collection that many of us have been waiting for, but I’ve tried to keep my expectations low. The colors I chose where the following:

L-R: OMG A UFO, Don’t Be A Luna-tic, Take A Trek, Strap On Your Moonboots

L-R: Cosmic Dust, Galactic Gray, When Stars Collide, Infra Red

I love the color of Infra Red. OMG A UFO and When Stars Collide are really unique colors in my collection when it comes to holos. It’s going to interesting to try these out!

So, the big question is: Do they live up to the expectations of the now legendary OMG!-collection? To get an idea of the holographic effect I swatched two OMG-colors and two Hologlam colors that where somewhat similar in color.

From left to right you have: QT, Infra-red, L8R G8R, OMG A UFO. After looking at these in different angles in the sun you do see a difference in the holographic rainbows. The particles seem to be of a similar size, but the holographic effect is over a smaller area in the new colors, and also a little more diffused.

Speaking of the colors, Infra Red is like a deeper version of QT, so if you have been lemming QT I think you can be quite happy with Infra Red.

So, what do you think? I think they look really good actually. If you wanted the mega holographic rainbows like the Color Club Halo Hues you might be disappointed, but compared to the old China Glaze collection I think they’re really nice. It’s way better than that Tronica collection, there’s not much action in those!

A Frankfurt Haul

Tuesday, November 13th, 2012

A couple of months ago I spent a weekend in Frankfurt, Germany. The main event was to see Nickelback live (wohoo!), but it was also an excellent opportunity to take a look at some beauty brands that aren’t available here in Sweden. I found quite a few pretty polishes that followed me home.

Six Essence polishes:

L-R: Holo Topping, Please!, Night In Vegas, Glorious Aquarius, Chic Reloaded, Walk on the Wild Side, Oh My Glitter!

And a few Catrice and Alessandro:

Catrice L-R: Dirty Berry, Steel My Soul, King Of Greens

Alessandro L-R: Black Velvet, Mood Brown

I was so happy to finally get to drool over the Essence polishes, I’ve seen a lot of them on Nihrida’s blog for example. Unfortunately I hadn’t had time to do any research before my shopping spree so I just went with my gut feeling, but after swatching a few I think I got a nice catch =)

Is there anything in particular you’d like to see?

Cactus’ Nail Polish – Spectrum β Collection

Friday, September 7th, 2012

Look what I got in the mail the other day! I think a lot of you Swedish readers know what this is. It’s a holographic collection made by the Swedish blogger of Cactus’ Nail Polish, with the thoughtful name of Spectrum β. Apparently you can determine what elements are present out in space by doing a spectral analysis, and the polishes’ colors are made to correspond with what colors show up for each element (emission lines). Or something like that, go have a read on Cactus’ explanation or Wikipedia if you want more in depth information =)

L-R: Magnesium, Polonium, Boron, Astatine

I’m looking forward to trying these! At first glance I love the blue shade of Boron, and the turquoise color of Polonium is a shade I’ve been thinking of mixing myself. but I’m a lazy b*tch and never get anything done, so it’s faster to pay for someone else’s hard work =)
Magnesium is a medium cool green, and last but not least Astatine is a very dark grey/black? shade.

I took these photos in a hurry last morning when the sun was finally shining, but of course it was gone again at the end of the day. I’m hoping for more sun soon so I can take them for a ride!

As this collection was pretty limited most of the polishes sold out the first day, I think Mangesium is still available. I’m sorry for those of you who didn’t get what you wanted. But after missing out on the holographic polishes that Sanna of MakeupMyLack made, I wasn’t going to do the same mistake again =)

A Fine Little Haul..

Thursday, August 30th, 2012

These three babies came into my possession a while ago, I ordered them from llarowe:

L-R: Jade Fascinio Violeta, Jade Magia Negra, Ozotic 505.

Sminkan, the Jade polishes are all your fault! =)

Two holographics, and an oil slick in a bottle, aren’t they lovely?

My Latest Polish Haul

Wednesday, August 8th, 2012

I know it’s already near the end of Summer now (at least in Sweden), but it’s not too late for neons just yet!

A while ago I placed an order at Transdesign, and they showed up the day before I went on a little trip. When I saw these babies I got a total neon overload,  and my fiance probably thought I was going crazy when I started talking to the polishes and caressing them.. =)

I ordered six polishes from China Glaze’s Summer Neons collection:

L-R: Flirty Tankini, Surfin’ For Boys, Orange You Hot?, Beach Cruise-r, I’m With The Lifeguard, Sun-kissed

I also ordered three more polishes from different collections:

L-R: Color Club Metamorphosis (Take Wing collection), China Glaze Man Hunt (On Safari), Wicked Style (Electropop)

These polishes are all gorgeous, but the one I totally fell for was Surfin’ For Boys, I love the glowing coral shade!

IsaDora mini sizes

Monday, April 23rd, 2012

When I was on my weekly grocery shopping at the local ICA Maxi last week, I noticed a new little makeup stand that caught my attention, it turned out to be some mini sizes of IsaDora products, with both old and some new stuff, with the pricing 3 products for 99 SEK. I picked up the following things:

L-R: Pump ‘n Plump in Pearly Sangria, Express Star Gloss  in Reflecting Bloom, and Wonder Nail in Icy Purple.

There were also some mascaras, lipsticks, and a few small baked eyeshadows that I don’t think I’ve seen before.

I think the lip glosses are so cute! I don’t use lip gloss that often, so I prefer smaller sizes which also are easy to carry with you.

So how does the mini polish compare to the ordinary size?

The ordinary bottle is 6 ml, while the mini size is 4 ml (1 ml less than the Depend bottles). Thankfully the brush is also smaller:

Wide brush to the left, mini brush to the right.

Have you seen this stuff? Does it look interesting or is it products you already have? The polishes I remember where these: Mellow Yellow, Silver Sparkles, Gold Sparkles, Cool Camel, Dolce Vita, and some pearly white that I don’t remember the name of.

Some Urban Decay Stuff

Sunday, February 19th, 2012

While going through the photos on my computer I found some swatches that I made sometime before Christmas, I guess it’s not too late to show them. I had ordered some Urban Decay stuff from

Hey, what’s that? A butterfly? *sniff sniff*

Once he realized it wasn’t a real one and moved along, I could take this photo:

It’s a Pocket Rocket lip gloss in the shade James, the Mariposa Palette, and the 24/7 Glide On Pencil in Flipside (Finally! I’ve beeen craving that one for years..)

The palette is packaged in a metal tin with the Urban Decay logo and a butterfly on it (Mariposa means butterfly in Spanish). When you open it up it looks like this:

Click on the next photo if you want to enlarge it:

And then we have the swatches, in the sun and in the shade. Click on the photos to enlarge them.

Row 1 L-R: Rockstar, Gunmetal, Skimp, Infamous, Wreckage
Row 2 L-R: Haight, Money, Mushroom, Spotlight, Limelight

The reason I bought this palette was mainly for the shades Haight, Money, Mushroom, and Skimp. Wreckage and Infamous are also very nice shades. Spotlight and Limelight can be a bit tricky to apply as they are a little gritty, but I’ve worn Spotlight a few times without problems.

On to the lip gloss, James. If you’re not familiar with the Pocket Rocket lip glosses they all have different guys on them (James is the Emo guy), and if you look at them in a certain angle they’re undressed to their undies.

It’s so tacky it’s fun! The applicator is a tiny brush, which I think works pretty well.

I swatched it on the back of my hand together with the Flipside pencil.

James is a cool pink gloss with tiny blue/purple shimmer in it, and Flipside is a gorgeous teal color.

Here’s a shot of James on my lips.. Hmm, I hope my fiance isn’t reading this =)

It’s quite a sheer gloss, so I like to wear it on top of a more covering lipstick or stain, I think it makes the shimmer more visible that way as well. And then we have the scent is reminiscent of creme brulee, and being the sweet tooth that I am I love it!

My Latest Nail Polish Hauls

Saturday, February 18th, 2012

I’ve had a few polishes drop down in my mailbox lately, so I thought I’d show you the beauties. First up is an order from Transdesign, where I ordered five polishes from China Glaze’s spring collection Electropop, a couple of polishes from the 2011 Christmas collection Let It Snow, and then some odd ones.

The Electropop polishes:

L-R: Dance Baby, Gothic Lolita, Sunshine Pop, Gaga For Green, Aquadelic

These colors make me happy to look at!

And the rest of the polishes:

L-R: China Glaze Snow Globe, China Glaze Tinsel Town, Orly Emberstone (Mineral FX),  Color Club Alter Ego

And then we have the next order, four polishes from A England’s latest collection called The Legend, which consist of beautiful polishes where most include holographic particles and even some duochrome flashes. I’m pretty sure I will end up with the whole collection eventually, they look so pretty!

L-R: Ascalon, Dragon, Saint George, Bridal Veil

I hardly know where to begin, but I’m leaning towards the A England polishes at the moment. What do you want to see?

My Latest Haul

Saturday, September 17th, 2011

I just wanted to show you what I ordered from, as you can see it was before the OPI’s disappeared from the site.

First we have five China Glaze polishes from the Metro Fall collection.

L-R: Trendsetter, Traffic Jam, Street Chic, Concrete Catwalk, Skyscraper.

And the rest of the polishes, which I’ve had on my buying-list for a while:

L-R, China Glaze Senorita Bonita from the Island Escape collection, OPI Serena Williams Glam Slam! England collection with Grape… Set… Match and Servin’ Up Sparkle, and OPI Last Friday Night from the Katy Perry collection.

I’m curious to try out the Metro polishes, I’m not a creme-fanatic but I ended up with three cremes anyway.

Is there anything in particular you want to see?
