KleanColor Metallic Pink and Metallic Purple

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

I was really looking forward to trying out the Metallic polishes from KleanColor, and I had a hard time deciding which one to try first. So I chose to wear both Pink and Purple =) I used to wear manicures like this in my teens (over 10 years ago, time does fly..), and it was fun doing it again.

So, this is one coat each of the polishes, the formula is fantastic! I did not apply top coat since it dried pretty fast.

Photos are taken in direct sunlight.

Metallic Purple is a gorgeous cool purple.

Metallic Pink is a beautiful dark pink/fuchsia.

This one is taken inside in natural light. My thumbnail is slowly making progress…

I wanted shots of both my hands so my dear fiance helped out with these. Click for bigger version.

I absolutely loved this manicure, it definitely felt like me!

Oh, and I just want to show you what my nails looked like after removing this manicure:

Yes, the pink stains! I’ll be sure to at least wear a base coat next time I wear it.

KleanColor Holo Orange On Top Of Sun Orange

Monday, August 15th, 2011

So, the reason I wanted to show you Isadora Sun Orange first is because I later paired it with KleanColor Holo Orange. I figured this polish was quite sheer so I just added one coat on top of Sun Orange. The base color of Holo Orange took away some of the yellow in Sun Orange and made it a slightly deeper shade of orange. And wow, is this gorgeous or what!

Fortunately the sun was shining outside so I could get some nice sunny photos. I wouldn’t really call this holographic, it’s more like holographic glitter particles in a colored base, but it doesn’t make it less beautiful! Prepare for some picspam!

It was really hard to capture all the colors, but they’re there.

And to really show all the colors I took a couple of photos out of focus:

I definitely want more of these holo polishes!

Isadora Sun Orange

Saturday, August 13th, 2011

Before I start posting any images of KleanColor manicures I wanted to show you this Isadora polish first. It’s the beautiful shimmery Sun Orange, which has been on sale at Kicks and Åhléns lately. I actually picked it up one day but put it back. I changed my mind and when I got to my local store next time it was gone! But I finally managed to find it in another store.

I went for four coats plus China Glaze Fast Forward top coat. I put on a little thicker coat on my ring finger and that resulted in some bubbling, so for me it was better to stick to sheerer coats.

In full sunlight.

Inside without flash, you can see a bit of VNL here.

I’ve never really been fond of these types of yellow orange tones before, but I really like this!

KleanColor Haul!

Thursday, August 11th, 2011

Yes, I know I’m late on the bandwagon, but I finally have placed my first order at BeautyJoint.com with some KleanColor polishes. I ended up ordering 10 bottles, and here you have all the beauties (click on pics for bigger version):

L-R: Metallic Black, Metallic Aqua, Metallic Green, Metallic Red, Metallic Pink

L-R: Metallic Purple, Chunky Holo Purple, Holo Chrome, Holo Orange, Mango

So mostly metallic polishes, some “holos” and one creme.

I’ve read a lot about the problem with leaking bottles, and I only had some minor leakage on Metallic Purple and Metallic Pink, not enough so that it bothers me. What I did have serious problems with was to choose which polish to try out first =)

H&M Coral

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

I bought one of the Spring Nails mini sets from H&M a few months back, and the polish that interested me the most was Coral. I’ve been slightly obsessed by that color this season, both in polish, makeup and clothes. And I’m really glad I got this one, because it’s quite beautiful. It’s a light coral shade with golden shimmer. To be honest I don’t really remember how many coats I did, but probably three as I usually do, and I don’t think I had any problems with the formula.

Outside in the shade.

I love the golden shimmer in this!

Some Comparisons of Blue/Aqua/Teal Shimmers

Friday, August 5th, 2011

I bought a couple of polishes each from China Glaze’s and Misa’s summer collections, and when I looked at Mermaid Dreams and Blue Iguana I thought they needed a comparison. I also added one more blue from my collection.

Left to right: L.A. Girl Alkaline Blue, China Glaze Blue Iguana, and Misa Mermaid Dreams.

Here’s me trying to be pedagogical. I’ve applied two coats of each polish.

Blue Iguana in the middle is the sheerest and the greenest of the bunch. Alkaline Blue to the right is the darkest blue. I do find the finishes to be quite similar on all of these.

Here’s a close-up of Mermaid Dreams and Blue Iguana, and I think you can see the purple shift in BI here, and that’s what I think sets this one apart from the Misa polish. So I think you need both =)

I also bought Misa Krystal Water and wanted to compare it to other similar polishes, and to my horror I hardly found any in my stash! After some digging I came up with these to have something to compare it to:

Left to right: Viva La Diva no. 76, Misa Krystal Water, Color Club Emerald Depths.

This is also only two coats each.

Emerald Depths is the darkest and most blue, Krystal Water is the lightest one with it’s beautiful glassfleck shimmer, and VLD no. 76 is the greenest one. They’re all lovely in their own way!

China Glaze Cherish

Sunday, July 31st, 2011

China Glaze Cherish is a beautiful light green polish from the Romantique collection. Last time I wore this I had the same first impression as with Harmony from the same collection, that it was a bit messy to apply. So I tried doing just one coat of polish this time around, and it was definitely better. I did get some pooling on a couple of nails, but after it dried with top coat on (Fast Forward) I thought it looked pretty good anyway.

In sunlight. I love the way the polishes in this collection shimmer in the sun.

Indirect natural light, where it looks more satiny.

With flash, showing off my Schefflera as well. It’s one of the few living green things in my home..

And you know what, I finally have vacation! But something tells me I won’t be able to do half of the things I have planned, but I’ll try my best to get some fun things done. Hopefully that means more posts on my blog =)

Zoya Adina

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

I’ve had this polish for over a year and haven’t used it until now! It’s the purple/green duochrome Zoya Adina, and it’s absolutely lovely to look at. To be honest I’m not sure how many layers I did, but probably three or four plus top coat (a sticky Seche Vite). I found the formula to be a little thin, but easy to apply. I wish I could have snapped some better pictures of it, but these will have to do.

In natural light. Looks like I got some shrinkage going on.

With flash.

Weird angle in natural light, here it looks more like a plum purple. Do you see my tiny thumbnail?

I’ve been quite absent from the blogging for a while, I hope I’ll have time to stock up on some fun things to show you on my vacation, which is only two weeks away now.. and I wouldn’t mind spending some time like this:

White Caps on the Ocean

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

I couldn’t leave my Isadora Dazzling Ocean alone, so I added a layer of China Glaze White Cap on top of it. I love the result, and even a couple of guys at work gave me compliments on it =) It turned the underlying polish to a slightly greener shade, with a beautiful golden shimmer.

First a not so good photo with the bottle:

Yes, I’ve been wearing the polish for over a week, please excuse the outgrowth.

Here you can see more of its beauty:

Close-up! This manicure made me think of mermaids and light dancing over the water, it was gorgeous in sunlight.

And it has happened again, I’ve broken a thumb nail..

The icky stuff on the left side is just residue from a band-aid. I blame it all on the plastic lock on the cats’ litter box..

Some Dazzling Polishes

Monday, June 20th, 2011

It’s been a while since my last post, sorry! I blame it on work, and an evil gum ache from hell (caused by one of my wisdom teeth). I didn’t have much motivation to do anything while my mouth was hurting 24/7, but now it’s fine again.

When I saw the blue and turquoise polishes from Isadora’s Ocean Drive collection I couldn’t resist. They look perfect for summer! This post is mainly about Dazzling Ocean. I keep confusing the names, I think this turquoise/aqua color should be named Acqua, and the blue one Ocean. But maybe that’s just me.

Bottle shot of Dazzling Ocean and Dazzling Acqua.

Both of the polishes seem to have a blue/purple flash in the bottles as you can see in the next photo, but it’s not very visible on the nails. I can see it in a certain angle in lamp light, but I only managed to capture one lousy photo of it in Acqua, which you can see at the end of this post.

(Click photo for full size)

I did the nails a little different this time, I applied my first coat of polish one evening while watching a movie, then the second coat the next morning while I was eating breakfast, and then another one. I didn’t apply a top coat. I don’t know if this is what caused the polish to bubble, as I did get some bubbling on a few nails. Fortunately it’s not that noticeable so I can live with that. What bothered me more was how sheer it was, but I do forgive it for being such a gorgeous and summery shade.

In full sunlight.

Here you can clearly see how sheer it looks.

With such a name I thought it would be fitting to splash some water on my nails =)

And then we have the other Dazzling polish, the blue Dazzling Acqua which adorn my toes. I’m not sure if this is quite as sheer as Dazzling Ocean, but I applied three coats here as well.

If there are any foot haters reading this..

GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!

You have been warned! =)

And here’s a crappy photo in poor indoor lighting, which was the only way for me to get the purple flash to show:
