China Glaze – QT

Friday, August 3rd, 2012

Finally I’m posting something for Kerstin’s Holo Friday! Here’s an old favorite of mine, the gorgeous dark pink QT from the now legendary OMG! collection. I wore this a while back, but I’m pretty sure I settled with three coats as I usually do. A dark hot pink holographic polish, can it get any better?

Here’s a few shots of this beauty in the sun:

Such a beautiful polish!

A Midsummer Night’s Skittle

Thursday, July 26th, 2012

I had big plans for my nails for Midsummer back in June, unfortunately I had a nasty cold so I had to stay home and celebrate on my own, but at least I had a fun manicure to look at =)

I decided to do a Skittles manicure with colors that more or less matched the dress I was supposed to wear.

I decided to do the colors in the reverse order on my right hand.

The polishes L-R: Lovie No. 93, H&M Bella’s Choice, KleanColor Mango, China Glaze Gaga For Green, China Glaze Dance Baby

I think I applied about three coats of each polish, Mango needed four to get even.

And here’s a shot with the dress:

I’m all for happy colors now!

China Glaze – Gaga for Green

Tuesday, July 17th, 2012

I was pleasantly surprised by this polish. I thought it would be hard to apply and greens like these aren’t really my favorite, but I ended up loving it! Gaga for Green is a medium soft grassy green, with a formula that I guess is somewhere between a regular creme and a jelly. I applied three coats and then Seche Vite on top. Here’s a couple of shots of it in the sun:

There’s a tiny bit of VNL but it didn’t bother me at all.

I’ll definitely be wearing this one again!

Gina Tricot – Viva Glam

Thursday, July 12th, 2012

This is my first polish from Gina Tricot, after seeing this one a few blogs I had to try it out myself. I ended up with four coats as I thought it was sheer when I applied it in dim lights, but after seeing it in daylight I’m sure three would have been enough. Anyway, Viva Glam is a cool golden shade that shifts to a more silvery shade in some angles. It’s quite unique in my stash and I really like it! It’s packed with what I think is called micro-glitter, which was a bit of a pain to remove, but it was worth it =)

In this flash photo you can see that some of the glitter particles have a warmer tone, I thought I saw some copper tones and even some green in there.

Holo Layering with Milani Hi-Tech

Friday, May 4th, 2012

It’s past dinner time here so I’ll just throw in a quickie today for Holo Friday. It’s one uneven coat of Milani Hi-Tech on top of China Glaze Gaga For Green (I’ll show that one on it’s own some other time). Green and happy! I was in a hurry when I did this so it’s not the polish’s fault =)

Models Own – Aqua Violet

Thursday, May 3rd, 2012

Wow. That’s the one word that describes how I feel about this polish. As the name implies, Models Own Aqua Violet is a duochrome that shifts between an aqua color and purple. And the color shift is pretty strong! I wore this in January so I don’t remember any details, but I think I applied four thin coats and then Seche Vite.

Now, let’s just sit back and adore this beauty:

IsaDora Icy Lilacs and Marzipan

Saturday, April 28th, 2012

This is a manicure from a few weeks ago. I wanted to try both of these polishes from IsaDora’s Pearls of Passion collection, so I decided to go for Icy Lilacs as my main color, and use Marzipan as an accent color on my ring finger nails. Icy Lilacs is way more beautiful in real life, it’s a light purple packed with turquoise shimmer that really makes this polish pop. It was pretty sheer so I applied four coats, but it was worth it. Marzipan was a lot more opaque so I went with my usual three coats. It’s a really pretty light green, I guess you could call it a warm mint green. I don’t think you can see it so well on the photos, but there is some (green?) shimmer in that one that’s more subtle.

If you’re wondering what that dot is on the index finger nail, I think I got a bubble in either the polish or the top coat.

Close up. The turquoise shimmer is more apparent in real life, and it’s gorgeous!

I really liked this manicure, it was light and felt good for Spring.

IsaDora mini sizes

Monday, April 23rd, 2012

When I was on my weekly grocery shopping at the local ICA Maxi last week, I noticed a new little makeup stand that caught my attention, it turned out to be some mini sizes of IsaDora products, with both old and some new stuff, with the pricing 3 products for 99 SEK. I picked up the following things:

L-R: Pump ‘n Plump in Pearly Sangria, Express Star Gloss  in Reflecting Bloom, and Wonder Nail in Icy Purple.

There were also some mascaras, lipsticks, and a few small baked eyeshadows that I don’t think I’ve seen before.

I think the lip glosses are so cute! I don’t use lip gloss that often, so I prefer smaller sizes which also are easy to carry with you.

So how does the mini polish compare to the ordinary size?

The ordinary bottle is 6 ml, while the mini size is 4 ml (1 ml less than the Depend bottles). Thankfully the brush is also smaller:

Wide brush to the left, mini brush to the right.

Have you seen this stuff? Does it look interesting or is it products you already have? The polishes I remember where these: Mellow Yellow, Silver Sparkles, Gold Sparkles, Cool Camel, Dolce Vita, and some pearly white that I don’t remember the name of.

China Glaze – Gothic Lolita

Saturday, April 21st, 2012

I bought this polish since it’s purple, and I just couldn’t resist it with such a name, I have a little weak spot for all things gothic =) Anyway, this is a medium purple with a discrete shimmer in what I think looks blue/purple. You don’t see much of the shimmer on the nails, but it gives the polish some extra depth. The shade varies a little between a warm and a neutral/cool purple depending on the light. The formula is a little thick, but it was still pretty easy to apply with two coats for full coverage, and as usual I finished it with Seche Vite.

This photo is taken outside without sun.

In the sun it looks warmer (duh..), and you see more of the shimmer here.

I took this one with flash, it’s easier to see the blue shimmer particles in this one.

It’s a very nice purple that I’m sure I’ll use again!

A England – Lady of the Lake

Friday, April 13th, 2012

Just a quick post today with something I found from November last year: the dark holographic purple Lady of the Lake from A England. I don’t really remember how many coats I applied, but probably two or three. It’s really quite beautiful in the sun:

In the shade it mostly looks like a normal purple shimmer:

I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend!
