Jaded and a little experiment

Sunday, January 16th, 2011

This polish has been left untested for a couple of months, and yesterday I thought it was about time to use it. Isadora Jaded is a blue toned green creme, and it’s very beautiful! I went for three layers as usual and topped it with Seche Vite. I hope you can live with my awful photos, it’s just grey and dark today and I had to turn up the ISO on the camera.

I also want to show you what my right hand looks like now. I’ve always had my nails filed in a round shape, and I thought I would try a more squoval shape to see what it’s like. I have no idea if I’ve done it right though, I would probably need to file them down even more but I’m not ready to do that just yet. I’m thinking of having them like this for a week and see if I can survive. My first impression is that I feel a little handicapped =) Anyway, this is what it looks like:

Do you have any preference when it comes to nail shapes?

Pimping Up Galaxy Girl With Nfu Oh #50

Sunday, January 9th, 2011

I wanted to play with some flakies again, so I put a layer of Nfu Oh #50 on top of Orly Galaxy Girl. I really like the result!

The flakes don’t stand out that much in this mani, but it gives it something extra.

The orange you see in this photo is just a reflection from a lamp.

I also used this Nfu Oh polish on top of H&M’s Fashionista, which you can see in this blog post.

Galaxy Girl

Friday, January 7th, 2011

This is my very first polish from Orly, Galaxy Girl from the Cosmic FX collection. I’m really loving the rubber cap! It’s a little hard to describe the color, I would say it’s a dark reddish purple with purple and teal glass flecks in it. The blue/green duochrome effect is very visible in the bottle, but not as much on the nail. Still, it’s a very nice polish, I get a vampy/gothic feel about this one. I ended up with four layers, and topped it with Seche Vite.

Photo taken outside in the shade.

In direct sunlight you can see the beautiful shimmer, but the duochrome effect is almost gone.

I need more Cosmic FX!

OMG, Happy New Year!

Sunday, January 2nd, 2011

I had some idea that I would blog like crazy during my Christmas holidays, but I ended up playing the 10 day trial of World of Warcraft instead… oops! Anyway, here’s a late post to show my nails at New Year’s Eve. My choice fell on the silver holographic OMG, I love it! I didn’t use any base or top coat, and this is three layers.

China Glaze OMG

The sun was nice to shine upon little Sweden for once!

Sorry for the mess on my fingers, I hadn’t done a cleanup yet.

Ah, look at all those pretty colors!

I wish you all a wonderful 2011! I’m still new to the blogging world, but I hope to get a little more active this year, and maybe a little giveaway will pop up along the way as well.. so stay tuned =)

Sew Psyched Gets Mistletoe Kisses

Sunday, December 12th, 2010

Time for some more crappy nail pics! I’m not really a fan of the Essie bottles, I think they look utterly boring, and there are not a lot of colors that catch my attention. But Sew Psyched spiked my interest, so now I’m not an Essie virgin anymore =)

So what do I think of this polish? I had a little trouble getting it even, but that’s probably more my fault than the polish, it had a pretty nice formula. I also knew that some people have had problems with it drying slowly, so I topped it with Seche Vite after three coats, and lay low for a couple of hours before I went to bed. I didn’t find any marks the day efter.

All photos are taken inside with flash. I apologize for the creepy fingers, they’ve been quite dry lately.

Essie Sew Psyched

The shimmer in this is barely noticable, so it looks more like a creme polish at a glance.

So I was sporting this for a few days, and was going to put on China Glaze Frosty for a Christmas party at work. Unfortunately time ran out (as it always does for me, I have nooo idea why..) so I grabbed Mistletoe Kisses and layered it on top of Sew Psyched. I think it worked pretty well!

I forgot to photograph the bottle!

It looks a little uneven but it wasn’t anything you noticed in real life, it just glittered beautifully!

China Glaze Bogie

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

I haven’t posted much of my polishes from the Vintage Vixen collection, and that’s because all the photos came out a disaster! I really need to find better ways to photograph without natural daylight. But I really wanted to show Bogie so I’ve tried to get a few photos that may hint at what a beautiful polish this is. It’s actually a shade that I normally wouldn’t go for, as I prefer bolder colors, but it’s really beautiful! It’s a dark plum shade with a nice shimmer to it. It applied well as the rest of the collection, and I went for two layers (three on some nails).

This photo is actually taken a week later, with an extra layer added. I wanted to get one photo with some daylight.

L.A. Girl Iron Red

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

The first polish that I tried from my latest Cherry Culture order was Iron Red. I hardly have any reds in my stash, but this one seemed interesting enough, and I really like it. It’s a light cool red with lots of metallic shimmer. I applied three layers as usual, and there might be a slight hint of VNL, but nothing that you really notice.

I managed to find some daylight! The middle finger looks a bit weird since I managed to hit it on something right after I finished all the layers. Clumsy me!

Taken inside with flash.

I almost get a Christmas feeling when I wear this, and I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing.. =) Maybe it’s because I’m not used to reds, I usually go for pink and purple shades.

Cherry Culture Haul!

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

I just wanted to show you some goodies from my latest Cherry Culture haul. So first we have the nail polishes, all from L.A. Girl:

L.A. Girl polishes

From left to right: Obsidian, Iron Red, Trilogy, Scandal, and Overdose. I just love the Metal and Rock Star collections! I know that Scandal is quite sheer, so I’ll probably use that one for layering.

And then I ordered some lip stuff as well:

Nyx Round lipstick in the shade Paris, and two Slim Lip pencils: Deep Purple and Nude Pink. Deep Purple was a bit more red than I expected, but I think I’ll have use for it anyway. Oh, and the thing in the background is my bling bling dragon that lives on my vanity table =)

I do love the lipstick, its a gorgeous pink color!

Some Graffiti on Galaxy..

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

Before I took Galaxy off I wanted to try out my black Isadora Graffiti polish, Black Tag. It took a while before I got my hands on it and I craved it soo bad! And when I finally got it it just lay in my drawer for over a month.. I guess the important thing is to own it =)

Taken inside with flash. I’d had Galaxy on for over a week so there’s some tip wear going on.

I didn’t apply a top coat as I like the matte finish, it makes a nice contrast to the underlying polish. This polish seemed a little thinner than my Subway Green, so on my right hand it didn’t crack up quite as nice as the layer was a bit too thin. But I’m quite satisfied with my left hand.

What do you think of crackle polishes? Yay or nay?

Isadora Galaxy

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010

Galaxy is probably one of my favorite polishes from the Swedish brand Isadora, this is the third time I’ve worn it. It’s a beautiful light metallic purple/pink with loads of glittery shimmer. The photos don’t quite do it justice. This is three thin layers as I usually do. It’s not fully opaque, but it’s not really anything you notice until you hold your hand up against the light.

Inside with flash.

Do you see all the stars in the galaxy? =)
