Oh it’s been real quiet around here for a couple of months. I didn’t intend to take such a long break, but a lot of work combined with an infected foot, aching arms and a little fun cold made me not so interested in sitting by the computer on my free time. But now it’s getting better, and with vacation just around the corner I hope to get some more stuff out there. So stay tuned =)
Yes, I’m alive..

May 4th, 2012Models Own – Aqua Violet
May 3rd, 2012Wow. That’s the one word that describes how I feel about this polish. As the name implies, Models Own Aqua Violet is a duochrome that shifts between an aqua color and purple. And the color shift is pretty strong! I wore this in January so I don’t remember any details, but I think I applied four thin coats and then Seche Vite.
Now, let’s just sit back and adore this beauty:

IsaDora Icy Lilacs and Marzipan
April 28th, 2012This is a manicure from a few weeks ago. I wanted to try both of these polishes from IsaDora’s Pearls of Passion collection, so I decided to go for Icy Lilacs as my main color, and use Marzipan as an accent color on my ring finger nails. Icy Lilacs is way more beautiful in real life, it’s a light purple packed with turquoise shimmer that really makes this polish pop. It was pretty sheer so I applied four coats, but it was worth it. Marzipan was a lot more opaque so I went with my usual three coats. It’s a really pretty light green, I guess you could call it a warm mint green. I don’t think you can see it so well on the photos, but there is some (green?) shimmer in that one that’s more subtle.
If you’re wondering what that dot is on the index finger nail, I think I got a bubble in either the polish or the top coat.
Close up. The turquoise shimmer is more apparent in real life, and it’s gorgeous!
I really liked this manicure, it was light and felt good for Spring.
IsaDora mini sizes
April 23rd, 2012When I was on my weekly grocery shopping at the local ICA Maxi last week, I noticed a new little makeup stand that caught my attention, it turned out to be some mini sizes of IsaDora products, with both old and some new stuff, with the pricing 3 products for 99 SEK. I picked up the following things:

L-R: Pump ‘n Plump in Pearly Sangria, Express Star Gloss in Reflecting Bloom, and Wonder Nail in Icy Purple.
There were also some mascaras, lipsticks, and a few small baked eyeshadows that I don’t think I’ve seen before.
I think the lip glosses are so cute! I don’t use lip gloss that often, so I prefer smaller sizes which also are easy to carry with you.
So how does the mini polish compare to the ordinary size?

The ordinary bottle is 6 ml, while the mini size is 4 ml (1 ml less than the Depend bottles). Thankfully the brush is also smaller:
Wide brush to the left, mini brush to the right.
Have you seen this stuff? Does it look interesting or is it products you already have? The polishes I remember where these: Mellow Yellow, Silver Sparkles, Gold Sparkles, Cool Camel, Dolce Vita, and some pearly white that I don’t remember the name of.
ABC-Award
April 22nd, 2012
I got an ABC-award from Pamsan (ClawsInColor), thank you! So here’s my go at a list of my own. I have cheated a little and used both Swedish and English words to get a complete list about myself =)
Anti-social. I’m shy and lazy, which means I’m not the most social person in the world.
Bilar (Cars in Swedish) – I’ve loved cars since I was a kid, especially sports cars that I never will have the chance to own. My dream car would probably be a purple metallic Audi TT with the registration plate roxcat!
Cats- My favorite animal, could you have guessed that? I have two male housecats, 8,5 year old Lakrits (Licorice in Swedish), and 1,5 year old Sisco. They’re both black and white beauties.
David – My fiance whom I met in 2003. I had no idea two lone wolfs could fit so well together! But he doesn’t really share my passion for makeup and nail polish for some reason.. =)
Extreme Cola – a soda with extra caffeine that I live on during the weekends. Me and my fiance used to drink Jolt before they went bankrupt, and this one has been a good substitute for that.
Freeze – That’s something I do a lot, so I prefer summertime.
Geek – that’s me. I’ve always considerd myself a geek, nowadays I guess I’m a mainstream computer/makeup geek. I like playing PC games from time to time, but not enough to be a gamer.
Halmstad – A beautiful small town on the west coast where I grew up. I moved from Halmstad six years ago, but it still has a very special place in my heart.
Ice cream – A nice way to cool down. I especially like rum raisin ice cream.
Japan – a country that I would like to visit someday.
Köttbullar (meatballs) – Yummie!
Lakrits (Licorice) – It’s not just the name of my cat, I also love eating it. Especially salt licorice.. *starts drooling*
Martina – that’s my name, though I usually go by Tina among friends.
Nail polish – I first got addicted to nail polish when I was twelve years old, and it was all Wet n Wild’s fault!
Onsala – the name of the place where I live, south of Gothenburg. 10 years ago I could never have imagined myself moving from Halmstad, and living in a house! But that’s where I am now, and I really like it! Although the garden doesn’t get as much love as it needs.. but I’m working on it.. =)
Programming – That’s what I do most days. I work as a systems developer with web based systems, and it’s just the right thing for me. I don’t do much programming at home anymore, I just tinker a little with my site/blog sometimes.
Queen – A group with a lot of good songs.
Roxette – My favorite Swedish group. I don’t know if it has something to do with the fact that I grew up in the same town as Per Gessle, but he’s been my musical hero since I was a kid.
Sci-fi – I love watching sci-fi. Stargate SG-1 is my favorite show, and next to that it’s probably Star Trek – Next Generation.
Taco and Thai food – some of my favorite foods.
Urban Decay is one of my favorite makeup brands.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines – One of my favorite PC games. I love vampires, and running around biting people is just my thing =) Last time I played as a Gangrel, it’s probably the most suitable clan for me.
Wet n Wild – The brand that got me hooked on nail polish 17 years ago. The first two polishes I bought was a black one and a golden one, and I have lost count on how many black polishes I used up through the years.
X – A peach colored eyeshadow from Urban Decay that I wouldn’t mind having.
Yoga – something I would like to be good at, but so far I suck big time, I can’t even reach my toes yet!
ZZ Top – I’m listening to them right now. If you want to hear some good ol’ rock I suggest you listen to Sharp Dressed Man.
Ååååh (Ooooh), it’s hard to come up with things for this list!
Älskar drakar (Loves dragons) – They are such beautiful and majestic creatures.
Öl (beer) is something I do NOT like. I’ve tried a few times but I’ve given up, I’ll stick to cider and wine.
The idea is to spread this award to 10 new blogs, but I really can’t decide on which ones to award. So if anyone want to take a shot at this one feel free to do so!
China Glaze – Gothic Lolita
April 21st, 2012I bought this polish since it’s purple, and I just couldn’t resist it with such a name, I have a little weak spot for all things gothic =) Anyway, this is a medium purple with a discrete shimmer in what I think looks blue/purple. You don’t see much of the shimmer on the nails, but it gives the polish some extra depth. The shade varies a little between a warm and a neutral/cool purple depending on the light. The formula is a little thick, but it was still pretty easy to apply with two coats for full coverage, and as usual I finished it with Seche Vite.
This photo is taken outside without sun.
In the sun it looks warmer (duh..), and you see more of the shimmer here.
I took this one with flash, it’s easier to see the blue shimmer particles in this one.
It’s a very nice purple that I’m sure I’ll use again!
My Easter Look
April 19th, 2012Yes, I’m a bit behind on posting, I’ve hardly had any time for the computer lately, at least not outside of work. About two weeks later I think it’s time to show you my eye look that I wore for Easter.
You’ve seen the nails I had on Easter, yellow and pink were my main colors and I chose to match my eyes to that color scheme .
Here’s a list of what I’ve used (at least what I remember..):
Eyes
Urban Decay – Primer Potion
NYX – Jumbo Eyeshadow pencil in Milk blended on lids
Coastal Scents – Light yellow from the 88 Palette on inner half of lids
Sugarpill – Buttercupcake on outer half of lid
Sugarpill – Bulletproof as eyeliner along upper lashline
Brite Bird – Pink Lemonade in crease
Urban Decay – 24/7 eyeliner pencil in Eletric on lower lashline
MIYO – Massive Lash Effect Attack on upper and lower lashes (I was confused when I wrote this..)
IsaDora – Inliner kajal in Blonde on lower waterline
MAC – Orb on browbone
Viva La Diva – Mix & Match Eyebrow Color, medium brown shade used to lightly fill in eyebrows
Face
GloMinerals – pressed based in Golden Medium
Make Up Store – Blush in Sugar Muffin lightly applied on cheeks
Lips
Dior – Addict lipstick in #762 Paris

Nope, I hadn’t fixed my hair yet when I took the photos, but honestly it didn’t look much better after =) I did add Urban Decay Vanilla as a highlight to the inner corners of the eyes, unfortunately I didn’t get any photos of that.
I usually stay away from yellow shades, but I think this was a pretty soft and fun look!
A Small Change in Commenting
April 17th, 2012I’m trying to minimize the amount of spam comments that I have to sort through every week, so I’ve made some changes on the blog. The most apparent change is that there now is a checkbox below the comment field that you have to check before you submit the comment. I hope this change doesn’t affect your routines too much, but don’t be afraid to let me know if it sucks =)
A England – Lady of the Lake
April 13th, 2012Just a quick post today with something I found from November last year: the dark holographic purple Lady of the Lake from A England. I don’t really remember how many coats I applied, but probably two or three. It’s really quite beautiful in the sun:
In the shade it mostly looks like a normal purple shimmer:
I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend!
