China Glaze – FYI

Friday, August 17th, 2012

Here’s another old goodie from the OMG collection, the light beige FYI. I had been wearing only two coats for a couple of days, and before I took the photos I added a third coat.

This is a wonderful polish when you want something discrete, but where there’s still some fun action going on. I love how fast drying these polishes are!

China Glaze – Beach Cruise-r & Sun-Kissed

Monday, August 13th, 2012

To be able to try as much neons as possible before I’m back to work I chose to use two of the Summer Neons polishes in one manicure, the purple/fuchsia Beach Cruise-r and the highlighter yellow Sun-Kissed. Sun-Kissed ended up with for coats on most nails, and Beach Cruise-r was two coats. I wasn’t really thinking about the thicker formula when I started applying it so it did pool a little here and there, but it looked OK in the end, except some VNL with Beach Cruise-r. It didn’t dry very fast, but I used Seche Vite and took it easy for about an hour before bed, and it did survive the night.

First photo with a bit of sun:

I couldn’t quite get the color to show up right for Beach Cruise-r, it’s slightly more purple than what it looks like here.

Next one is taken when it was cloudy:

And the last one with flash, where you can see more of the shimmer in Beach Cruise-r:

They’re both wonderful colors, Sun-Kissed is really a bright neon yellow with beautiful shimmer. Beach Cruise-r is a bit more shy, I would almost call it a work safe color even, as it’s not that super bright (but still beautiful!).

China Glaze – Surfin’ For Boys & I’m With The Lifeguard

Thursday, August 9th, 2012

As I wrote in my previous post I got my new polishes just before I was going away on a trip, so I decided that a couple of them could accompany me on that. I chose to wear Surfin’ For Boys on my tips, and I’m With The Lifeguard on my toes.

I found the formula to be a little thick, but I thought it looked OK after two coats. There was a tiny bit of VNL but it didn’t bother me at all. They dried to a semi-matte finish and I added a coat of Seche Vite on top.

Surfin’ For Boys is an insane neon coral shade with shimmer, I don’t have anything like it in my stash.

This shade was really hard to capture on photo! It’s a bright red coral, I think I got close enough on these photos.

And on to my toes. I try to keep them at a safe distance from you so you won’t get a foot shock =)

I’m With The Lifeguard is a shimmery green neon, and I think the color looks pretty accurate here:

A perfect color for your toesies!

My Latest Polish Haul

Wednesday, August 8th, 2012

I know it’s already near the end of Summer now (at least in Sweden), but it’s not too late for neons just yet!

A while ago I placed an order at Transdesign, and they showed up the day before I went on a little trip. When I saw these babies I got a total neon overload,  and my fiance probably thought I was going crazy when I started talking to the polishes and caressing them.. =)

I ordered six polishes from China Glaze’s Summer Neons collection:

L-R: Flirty Tankini, Surfin’ For Boys, Orange You Hot?, Beach Cruise-r, I’m With The Lifeguard, Sun-kissed

I also ordered three more polishes from different collections:

L-R: Color Club Metamorphosis (Take Wing collection), China Glaze Man Hunt (On Safari), Wicked Style (Electropop)

These polishes are all gorgeous, but the one I totally fell for was Surfin’ For Boys, I love the glowing coral shade!

China Glaze – QT

Friday, August 3rd, 2012

Finally I’m posting something for Kerstin’s Holo Friday! Here’s an old favorite of mine, the gorgeous dark pink QT from the now legendary OMG! collection. I wore this a while back, but I’m pretty sure I settled with three coats as I usually do. A dark hot pink holographic polish, can it get any better?

Here’s a few shots of this beauty in the sun:

Such a beautiful polish!

A Midsummer Night’s Skittle

Thursday, July 26th, 2012

I had big plans for my nails for Midsummer back in June, unfortunately I had a nasty cold so I had to stay home and celebrate on my own, but at least I had a fun manicure to look at =)

I decided to do a Skittles manicure with colors that more or less matched the dress I was supposed to wear.

I decided to do the colors in the reverse order on my right hand.

The polishes L-R: Lovie No. 93, H&M Bella’s Choice, KleanColor Mango, China Glaze Gaga For Green, China Glaze Dance Baby

I think I applied about three coats of each polish, Mango needed four to get even.

And here’s a shot with the dress:

I’m all for happy colors now!

China Glaze – Gaga for Green

Tuesday, July 17th, 2012

I was pleasantly surprised by this polish. I thought it would be hard to apply and greens like these aren’t really my favorite, but I ended up loving it! Gaga for Green is a medium soft grassy green, with a formula that I guess is somewhere between a regular creme and a jelly. I applied three coats and then Seche Vite on top. Here’s a couple of shots of it in the sun:

There’s a tiny bit of VNL but it didn’t bother me at all.

I’ll definitely be wearing this one again!

Holo Layering with Milani Hi-Tech

Friday, May 4th, 2012

It’s past dinner time here so I’ll just throw in a quickie today for Holo Friday. It’s one uneven coat of Milani Hi-Tech on top of China Glaze Gaga For Green (I’ll show that one on it’s own some other time). Green and happy! I was in a hurry when I did this so it’s not the polish’s fault =)

China Glaze – Gothic Lolita

Saturday, April 21st, 2012

I bought this polish since it’s purple, and I just couldn’t resist it with such a name, I have a little weak spot for all things gothic =) Anyway, this is a medium purple with a discrete shimmer in what I think looks blue/purple. You don’t see much of the shimmer on the nails, but it gives the polish some extra depth. The shade varies a little between a warm and a neutral/cool purple depending on the light. The formula is a little thick, but it was still pretty easy to apply with two coats for full coverage, and as usual I finished it with Seche Vite.

This photo is taken outside without sun.

In the sun it looks warmer (duh..), and you see more of the shimmer here.

I took this one with flash, it’s easier to see the blue shimmer particles in this one.

It’s a very nice purple that I’m sure I’ll use again!

Layering with Milani Cyberspace

Friday, April 6th, 2012

I’m taking a little break from my Easter preparations to show you my contribution to Kerstin’s Holo Friday, Milani Cyberspace layered on top of China Glaze Midnight Mission. I had been wearing the dark blue Midnight Mission for a few days before I added a coat of the light blue holographic polish Cyberspace from the Milani 3D collection. I really like the dark blue shade this combination gave.

Fortunately the sun was out so I could get some decent photos.

The scattered holographic effect is wonderful, I didn’t really manage to capture all of its beauty.

And finally a shot in the shade:

Tonight I’ll be working on my Easter manicure, I’m thinking of going with yellow and pink. Do you have any plans for what to wear on your nails for Easter?
