China Glaze Ruby Pumps

Saturday, December 31st, 2011

A couple of months ago I started thinking about what to wear for Christmas, and I realized I didn’t have many red polishes at all. I quickly got my hands on the classic Ruby Pumps from China Glaze, and I’m really glad to finally have it! Of course the weather didn’t cooperate as usual this time of year, but I did get some sun finally after wearing this for about five days.

So first some photos with sunlight:

I can’t say that the photos do it much justice, it looks more beautiful in real life.

The next two photos are older and without sunlight:

The photo above is taken with flash under the bedroom lamp. And the last one is taken in the shade a cloudy morning:

It was quite hard to capture the beauty of this one, but I’m sure most of you already know what it looks like =)

And now I’m trying to figure out what to do for New Year’s Eve, I’m thinking of doing something pink/purple, maybe with glitter, or maybe holographic. Do you know what your New Year’s Eve manicure will look like?

Color Club Perfect Mol-ten with some Mistletoe Kisses

Thursday, December 29th, 2011

Say hello to my shorter nails! I had a crack in one nail and a scratch along the tip of another, so I thought it was time to shorten them a bit. I felt a bit amputated at first, but now I’m used to it. My father-in-law was quite clear on what he thought looked best.. =)

So, this is the manicure I had last week before Christmas, it’s two coats of Color Club Perfect Mol-ten (which I wore alone for a few days at first), a cool green foil, and then I painted the tips with China Glaze Mistletoe Kisses, a green jelly with silver glitter in it, and then topped it with Seche Vite. There wasn’t much daylight to photograph in but I think I got some fairly decent pictures of it.

I’m not good at freehand, but as these colors are so close together, and there’s glitter as well I think I got away with it =)

When I first wore Perfect Mol-ten I thought it reminded me of something else, and I’m pretty sure it was China Glaze Cherish. It has a similar finish, but this one is a much cooler green. And this one is a lot easier to handle!

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful Christmas/Hannukkah/Holiday/Whatever =)

Orly It’s Not Rocket Science

Sunday, December 18th, 2011

Here’s something I found from a couple of months ago that I haven’t had time to publish until now, Orly It’s Not Rocket Science from the Cosmic FX  collection. When they first came out I didn’t think I’d want this since I’ve never been really fond of yellowish greens, but oh my did I change my mind when I tried it! I probably used three to four coats to really get some depth in this since it’s a bit sheer, and then Seche Vite on top of that. When these photos were taken I’d probably had it on for a few days, hence the tip wear.

So, let’s have a look at this duochrome beauty:

I’m pretty sure it was cloudy when I took these photos, but that’s good weather for duochromes.

I love the way the shimmer particles (?) look.

Here you see more of the bluer green tone it gets in more extreme angles.

This last photo is taken with flash to show how shimmery it is:

I love love love this polish! I couldn’t stop staring at my nails while wearing this. What do you think of it?

Space Nails

Friday, December 2nd, 2011

Wow, I’ve been really bad at updating the blog lately, and also keeping up with all the blogs out there. There’s been a lot going on both at work and at home, and the darkness doesn’t really make it better when it comes to taking photos. But today some sun came through so I could take these pics of a space themed look. I’ve seen manicures like this before, last one was at Annamax, and since I’m going to a sci-fi convention this weekend it felt like the right thing to do =)

The base is three coats of Eyeko Cosmic, a black polish with tiny holographic glitter in it. Then I went crazy with a sponge and the following polishes: Isadora Mellow Yellow, Color Club Hot Like Lava, Color Club Foil Me Once, Orly Lunar Eclipse, and some Color Club Electronica. I didn’t really have a plan with it, I started with the yellow and then added some more colors next to it. After that I topped it off with OPI Servin’ Up Sparkle and a coat of Seche Vite. Now that I look at the finished result, I think it more looks like space puke or something, but I still like it.

Some pictures in various degrees of sunlight:

And the last one is taken with flash:

I don’t know if this is holographic enough for holo Friday, but at least it’s sparkly!
